Re: How frequently does your sleep specialist follow up?

In my case I see my sleep specialist every 4 to 6 years. This is basically when I feel the need. If I need a prescription for supplies my regular doctor will write a prescription. I suggest that you take control of your treatment using the sleep specialist as a resource. This means monitoring this f...

Re: DME and replacement parts

I find that my masks, filters, and hoses last much longer. One way that we can hold medical costs down is after we get a backup only order replacements when the current one is no longer functioning.

Re: removing mask at night

If you continue to sleep without the machine I would not wake yourself up since that defeats the purpose. When I need to be up at a certain time I will set a timmer to turn the machine off thus causing me to wake up. In my exerience over time you will get used to the machine and this will cease to b...

Re: dme takes its s9 machine back

On the subject of the pressure range to use I propose a more open setting based on personal experience. It is a lot more comfortable to start at a lower pressure. Individuals have expressed a concern that if the pressure is too low that it will take too long to get to the right pressure but I have n...

Re: DME Question

Do not expect any help from your DME regarding installing the software. Most feel threatened by the fact that you have it and will tell you that it is illegal or dangerous to have the software. They Lie. I am not sure whether they are ignorant and ill informed or whether they know they are lying. If...

Re: Increase in DME Prices under Obama Care !

Sounds to me as it is a continuation of what has been going on for the last X years. The medical costs are going up so in order to control the cost to the employer more of the cost is being shifted to the insured. I suggest that you would see the same thing even without the healt care legislation.

Re: Medicare, DME suppliers, and CPAP

If I understand it correct. If we continue with the current system we will pay more and more for health care so we will have less disposable income. Only those who have a good job or are rich can afford health care insurance. Those who do not have health care insurance who get sick will suffer more ...

Re: Why it IS illegal - sort of - to change your pressure.

Denial is forever. The section of the California Codes I quoted was provided by the agency regulating RT's in direct response to my question about adjusting my machine. They were very clear that the patient has the right to adjust his own machine. You have only provided conjecture and then you rejec...

Re: In my defense.

It is not illegal to change the pressure settings on your machine. I was told by the California agency regulating RTs that you are entitled to provide self care, including adjusting your pressure, pursuant to subdivision (b) of Section 3765 of the California Business and Professions Code which provi...

Re: Why it IS illegal - sort of - to change your pressure.

Proof that the "legal thinking" is wrong: I was told by the California agency regulating RTs that you are entitled to provide self care pursuant to subdivision (b) of Section 3765 of the California Business and Professions Code which provides: 3765. This act does not prohibit any of the following ac...

Re: power on 24/7?

A minor and I do mean minor argumentin favor of keeping the machine on is that it may extend the life of the electrical components. When you turn electronics off and on it results in thermal transients in the electronics. These temperature changes have been associated with reduced life span of elect...

Re: Help - CPAP is ruining my job and my relationship!

The bottom line is that we use the machine to make us feel better. You do not blindly take medication if you have complications. If this is screwing up your life put things into perspective. Going off the machine for two months will not kill you in spite of what the fear mongers say. If you were fal...

Re: 30 Minute Nap without Cpap--Can this be Harmful ?

The biggest problem with naps is that you are moe likely to stay up late because you are not sleepy. The need for naps is also a sign that you are not getting all the sleep you need at night. I find sleeping in a cair can be restful. If I am running on a sleep deficit the nap can be essential to all...

Re: my insurance sucks.

My masks last years.

Proposed strategy: Get a replacement mask and then continue using your primary mask until it fails. Then and only then buy a new mask. not only is this strategy cheaper but it also reduces the amount of gargage due to old masks.
