Afterhours wrote:First dose of this was taken @ 6am on an off day. Kept me up for 20 hours straight! A little more than I bargained for.

First night I took it I didn't sleep at all. After that it got better. But I've been on it 10 months now and it's losing effectiveness. I'm taking 150 mg, may have to go up.

Re: nasal mask is burning the inside of my nose

I have had apnea for 4 years and have been using a full face mask the whole time, a few days ago I had to switch to a nasal mask (one that goes in the nose), because the face mask was causing severe wrinkles on my face as well as 2 cysts on the bridge of my nose. I have tried to use the nasal, but,...

For me it was a beta blocker, I got a lot better after I got that changed (not great, but much better!)

Re: Doc recommends stimulant ? ?

Assuming they're not hideously expensive. They can be pretty much hideously expensive. Especially Nuvigil as it is newer. Insurance companies sometimes balk at allowing it to be a covered item. Depending on dosage I have seen costs reported to be $150 to $300 a month. Yes, they are, but Nuvigil has...

Re: Doc recommends stimulant ? ?

I was offered Nuvigil last year and didn't take it. But the daytime sleepiness and brain fog were getting so bad (even with average AHI of 0.5) that I finally gave in a couple of months ago. Now I wish I had started on it last year. The first few days were bad - so if you do start this, try to start...

Your lifetime or his lifetime, whichever ends first.
If the physician who wrote the prescription dies, it's no longer valid. Or so my pharmacist told me when my cardiologist died and I needed a refill on meds.

Re: tooth soreness

I have found since switching to nasal pillows that I push my tongue into the back of my teeth, usually the top teeth, but sometimes also the bottom. It's caused soreness, loose teeth, and gaps between my front teeth. I'm working really hard on relaxing and trying to stop this, but I still wake up pu...

and showing alot of Vibrations (snoring).. That might be mask and/or hose noise and not real snoring. If you sleep with someone ask them if you are still snoring. I previously used the Hybrid mask and it showed high VS score. I videotaped myself sleeping one night and I didn't snore at all - the ma...

Re: mouth breather to nose breather?

I've been a mouth breather most of my life but i'm having a lot of hassles with ffm and leaking. I'd like to give some nasal masks a try. I tried breathing through my nose the other night and it seemed to be ok. Just wondering if many people here started on CPAP as mouth breathers but were able to ...

Re: Nuvigil side effect

Sorry. I didn't have that problem. But it did make me jittery the first few days. Now its leveled off. Don't feel "stimulated", but don't fall asleep during the day either. I wasn't jittery or anything else, just never got sleepy Friday night. I'll see how it goes after a few days and then, if nece...

Nuvigil side effect

I took Nuvigil for the first time yesterday and it really helped during the day. Unfortunately, the wakefullness effects lasted all night. I didn't get any sleep at all (literally NONE) last night. I've been able to doze a bit this morning, but not much. I notice that "difficulty sleeping" is one of...

Re: Dental Problems and CPAP??

Since starting to use nasal pillows last Fall I've developed gaps between my upper front teeth. And they hurt every morning. I'm really trying not to clench my teeth, but can't stop it while I'm asleep. I don't think I'd be able to use the bite device as I have a really bad gag reflex (I could never...

Re: OT: Electronic Medical Records

The systems are expensive and there's no consistency between the various systems available. In my experience that's usually General Practitioner code for "I need a substantial incentive payment (aka bribe) from <insert some payer or other here> before I will do it" If the doctor sees Medicare patie...
