Re: Sleep apnea support in Durham, NC area?
Thank you for the information about Duke Sleep Disorders Clinic! Glad to know you had a positive experience with folks associated with it . I found it heartening to read that the first doc you listed is himself someone who uses a CPAP, and I think it's cool that they do their sleep studies in a hote...

Sleep apnea support in Durham, NC area?
My son, in his early thirties, just moved to the Durham-Raleigh area. I am pretty sure he has sleep apnea, but haven't broached the subject with him and expect it will take some doing to get him to follow through on getting diagnosed, and, if need be, treated. Although I have greatly benefited from ...

Resmed Climateline hose reverses for use w/o humidifier
The other day I packed my S9, H5i humidifier, and brick, each in its own large ziplock bag, and put them in my backpack for a road trip. My usual routine. Upon arriving at my destination, I realized that, for the first time in all these years, I had neglected to empty the water chamber before packin...

Re: antioxidant NAC and sleep apnea
I take NAC, time release, twice a day, 600 mg each dose, for its antioxidant properties. Unfortunately, I've seen no effect on my OSA from it.

Re: will my laptop battery mess up Intellipap electronics?
Just to clarify, and I apologize for perhaps being unclear--as I said, computers and electronics are not my forte. I never put the SD card IN my Mac. It was just collecting data in my ResMed S9. Ashamed to say I never went through the necessary steps to actually get that data read on my Mac. But aft...

Re: will my laptop battery mess up Intellipap electronics?
Wow, very interesting. So my Mac itself likely corrupted the old ResMed SD card! I am less reassured, especially since reading here that the "guts" of the Intellipap are apparently not all that different from an SD card. (I don't have the extra data module at this point.) Yes, the old lead envelopes...

Re: will my laptop battery mess up Intellipap electronics?
Oh good. I appreciate the responses. Looking back on my request for help back when I was traveling with my ResMed S9, looks like my SD card needed to be reformatted after being too close to my Mac laptop battery. I can't blame airport x-ray machines because I was on a road trip. As for keeping my ma...

will my laptop battery mess up Intellipap electronics?
I am going to be traveling with my "back up" machine, an Intellipap AutoAdjust, and am planning to keep the machine and my laptop in my carry on bag. One time when I was traveling with my ResMed machine, my computer battery did a number on that machine's data because I had the two machines in close ...

Re: Type of tape for mouth breathers
I use surgical tape that comes on a roll at the drug store and is pre-perforated in inch-long intervals. Two inches does the trick. I roll my lips in a little when I put it on, which helps my lips stay closed. Comes off fairly painlessly in the morning.

Re: Chin strap with Swift FX?
Guess I am the other extreme of chin strap user from the response posted above. Have been through a ton of tweaks and am still experimenting, because basically I find the FX, especially with Bella Loops, very comfortable. Have tried training myself to sleep with mouth closed, but so far no luck, and...

Bella Loops chin strap contraption?
Hi, It has been awfully hot here in the DC area, especially with loss of power a few days last week. Although I usually sleep with a pretty bulky chin strap, last night I took a strap from my old Swift FX, the blue one that fits behind the head, and attached it via its velcro connections to the bott...

short tube alternative for Swift FX?
Hi all,
I will soon need to replace the short tube for my beloved Swift FX. Just wondering if there is a creative alternative to the $74 short tube that is standard. Checked archives and didn't come up with anything. Lotta money for a little tube...

Re: Please help my dry eyes
I started having dry eye problems about a year and a half into CPAP therapy, also a problem with huge bags under my eyes in the mornings, reducing to smaller bags later in the day. Started using the Tranquileyes described in the link in the message above, along with Systane Ultra eye drops with no p...

Re: EYE BAGS--EEK!
Grateful to see this thread. Eye bags have become like little balloons in the mornings for me, and by the end of the day I am barely into the "okay" range in terms of puffiness. I have developed dry eye, too, and recently had silicone plugs inserted into my tear ducts figuring they might help with b...
