Re: Ladies and moisturizers
Yes, you're right, if you have a cream with ahas, glycolic, benzoyl peroxide, salicylic acid or somesuch it does degrade the seal. I use a day cream which has spf 15, and a night cream, both of which are for acne, so they have strong ingredients in them. I too, messed up my first mask seal because ...

Great idea! Do you have a suggestion for a liner?BlackSpinner wrote:You may want to use a liner between you and the mask - that way you can use a moisturizer.

Re: Ladies and moisturizers
Ladies. No one ever told me not to use moisturizers on my face at night. OK, the insturctions with the mask do say that, but they COULDN'T MEAN ME!!! So, I just followed my usually routine after washing my face I used my night cream. For those of you who are laughing, if someone had ever told me th...

Re: for all people who are still tired despite using CPAP, poll
I have sleep disordered breathing ------ I do not have obstructive sleep apnea for the most part unless I am sleeping on my back (rare) and my tongue falls back. OSA is under the sleep disordered breathing umbrella. My hypopnea numbers are higher, and I know that is not just due to the algorythm of...

Re: embarrement with CPAP
There is obviously great stigma associated with being overweight, and when a person is overweight AND has conditions that are often related to being overweight (even if not exclusively caused by it), they are judged negatively for it. I once heard a woman who had a child with Type I Diabetes rant a...

Thanks for posting this topic and for the responses. Acceptance, adjustment, recognizing depression, one day at a time. You all encourage me and I don't feel so alone.

Re: BIPAP
It sounds like yours is a mask issue, NOT a BiPap issue. I've only been using a BiPap for one month but it is a huge improvement over the almost identical cpap/apap for me. Many of us unintentionally/unknowingly take our masks off in our sleep. If your IN pressure is not high enough, or your nose is...

Re: losing hope!
the vent holes are open but it may be blocked while im sleeping- really dont know when it happens, if at all Exhaust ports that are restricted from fully venting would be a big problem. Roster, do you or anyone else have any suggestions for preventing the exhaust ports from being blocked? I'm using...

Re: Respironics System One Humidifier
i am new to the CPAP world and have the Respironics system one humidifier. I am confused as to the the amount of humidity that I should be aware of. Basically, very little or no water is used from the water compartment and I do not feel any moisture in the tubing or the nose piece. I have used the ...

Re: Does sleep vary this much? and a question on altitude
I've used the same machine as you have. I do think it took my body a while to get used to it. Sometimes I slept more soundly than before cpap but more often the machine would make me more aware of apneas and my sleeplessness. It's very sensitive to any perceived "events" and many of my "events" are ...

Re: Sleep Apnea Pillows
I have the Contour CPAP pillow pictured above. I'm a side sleeper and it tends to make my temples sore because it's so hard. And now that I've switched from ff to ff with nasal pillows, when I move around in my sleep it tends to push the mask which causes the nasal pillows to pop out...all night lon...

Re: BiPap Replacement Machine
I have been using the System One BiPAP Auto for the past month. (I used a PR System One Auto cpap prior to that so I was already used to the System One) I really like the System one BiPap. No complaints at all. I have the software which works for both machines and provides good data.

Re: Don't understand this machine, Respironics Bi Pap Auto SV
My nose was stuffy, though. It sounds like it may be the cold. Were you doing OK for the first week or so? What are your setting? What were they on APAP? Are you on BiPap Auto, or straight (fixed) Bipap? Your machine is a bit different than the SV. But you should be able to get it set up for therap...

Re: Don't understand this machine, Respironics Bi Pap Auto SV
It makes it hard to fall asleep when it shuts off the air if I take too long to initiate another breath. Bob Hi Bob, For the past 2 1/2 weeks, I've been using a borrowed PR auto Bi-pap but I don't think it has the SV. Prior to that I used PR System One apap. Whenever I stopped breathing with the ap...

Re: Anyone try/use a dental device?
As some of you know who read my posts, my sleep lab has been working closley with a local dentist who is very big on sleep apnea. She has done tons of research and classes and found that she can tell by the teeth if you have sleep apnea. So far everyone she has sent to me, she has been correct. My ...
