Re: What is AHI? Mine was 49.7!

Last night I turned the pressure up to 12 and my AHI was 1.9! It's a shame that they would give me this machine and not want me to see the doctor for a whole month. If not for the great help I've received in this forum, my AHI would still be at 50-60 every night. I know the doctor's going to be mad...

Ah, so... yours does the same thing.
I use pilows, and it definitely does NOT turn off automatically when pulled off my face.

Thanks, I feel better about it now.

Hi Kevin,

StartSmart IS engaged. I checked.

Perhaps using pillows has something to do with it.
Thanks for the tip.

Re: crummy little filter on the S9 autoset

Hi Gracey The N95/N99 are the mask you saw the people wear in the time of the H1N1 (avian flu). You need to be a bit creative to cut your filters but as says WillSucceed it's possible to do. Remember to keep the side of the exterior of the mask facing the exterior, there is a direction the air need...

Re: YOUR story how old when you first noticed sleeping problems?

Hi there! I was just wondering when you noticed you first had trouble with your sleep? So, I never had a job I had to be there in the morning.. yahoo... I worked afternoons and evenings. The mornings, I could be as miserable as I wanted to be! How old where you when you thought things werent "quite...

Does your S9 shut off automatically?

I'm calling on the wisdom of my fellow hoseheads. Does your S9 automatically shut off after a few seconds when you remove your mask? My S8 used to be able to do that. My S9 keeps blowing and blowing until I manually press the off button. Or is my machine defective? Or is there a setting I can adjust...

Re: crummy little filter on the S9 autoset

I've been making my own filters for years, doing exactly what Rosie suggests. You can by an N95 or N99 (even greater filtration) at the hardware store (make certain that it says N95 or N95 on it) and cut out your own filters. Be sure to keep the orientation of the filter correct so that the new filt...

Re: crummy little filter on the S9 autoset

after 28 days the filter was filthy! I keep the area behind my machine very clean.. BUT, this filter was so flimsy, it was a crummy little white filter you could see through. I was very dismayed that it did not have a very dense foam filter you could take out and wash once a week, like the pr syste...

Re: Suspiciously good results with new S9

IIRC, the DevilBiss Intellipap aPAP machine lets you change the definition of an apnea and a hypopnea. For instance, you can set the threshold for a hypopnea to a reduction of 30% of your airflow (v. the default of 50%). I'll have to look later at what the settings allow. I wonder if the S9 clinica...

Re: Suspiciously good results with new S9

My hypopneas were immediately reduced when I switched from a Remstar Auto to the S9. I wonder if the S9 under reports hypopneas? Hi there LFD, Do you feel any different? I think that the S9's reporting has been discussed in a previous thread(s). I couldn't find the HI in my machine's data report. I...

Re: Suspiciously good results with new S9

The S8 tends to over reports hypo's and would drive up your AHI. I believe I read that you can cut the hypoapnea index in half on the S8. My S8 was not data capable so I have no clue how many hypo's it was scoring. With the S9 I rarely see hypo's and when I do see them it's only one or two all nigh...

Suspiciously good results with new S9

Hello all, I've now been on CPAP for four months, previously with a Resmed S8 and for the last four nights, a S9. I think there was discussion on this topic before, but I'm finding suspiciously good readings from the data. Before: average AHI 6.0 Before: average usage 3.75 hrs Now: average AHI 2.7 N...

Re: Clearing out new unused items - Great bargains!

I am not a business, I looked at cpapauction and it seemed to me it was set up for those who have a regular supply of things to sell. That is not my case, these are surplus items that I thought someone might have use for instead of just sitting in my closet. If the legitimate moderators or list own...

I like the slimline even better than the Climate Control hose. The connectors are larger and heavier, and tends to catch and drag.
Oh.. aren't I a fussy one?! LOL

Re: Hose influences quality of sleep?

I have the climate line hose, but its so much more flexible and lighter than the other hose I used to use. The old hose was so stiff, it would get this big elbow bend in the middle and it was like herding ferrets to get it to behave.. I do believe I slept better the very first night with the lighte...
