Re: Weight loss drug trial claiming to reduce Sleep Apnea. Hmmm?
Weight loss definitely works for some people in reducing or eliminating OSA. If it does, the trick is to maintain the weight loss long term. And those drugs have some nasty side effects, not sure how much has been studied truly long-term (20 - 30 years???). We are learning a lot of drugs we THOUGHT ...

Re: My resmed shuts down when it gets cold
That's 57 degrees in Farenheit. We turn our heat down to 55 degrees at night, and I've never had that issue. It gets that cold in our room sometimes. You might talk to your provider or to ResMed about this.

Re: Airsense 10 cutting in and out
I was having trouble like that and the plug is behind my bed. Sometimes the pillows fall in the gap between the wall and the bed (we don't have a headboard), and that was pushing the plug out of the outlet.
I relocated where I plug in the machine, and problem solved.

Re: I just became compliant. But have a question
Do I need to put the mask back on for the last couple hours of sleep if I wake up. If I can get back to sleep ? I guess what I am saying its easier to fall back to sleep without using the mask again if I only have an hour two max anyway. Yes. Put the mask back on. It needs to be on whenever you sle...

Re: CPAP lung/chest pain
I get esophageal spasms, and they cause a very sharp pain in my chest, all the way up and into my ears. I'm not sure how they test for it to rule it in or out (and wouldn't want to suffer the testing in any case), but if nothing else shows up, it might be worth asking about.

Re: Apria or Lincare
There's a reason we call them Crapria and Lin Don't Care, but it sounds like you have a "guy" at Lincare who actually talks to you and is helpful. That's worth something. You can try Crapria and see how it goes. You can always go back to your guy at Lincare for supplies if you are unhappy with the e...

People will buy anything to avoid CPAP.
I was once in an asthma forum online where a woman insisted that a fan blowing in her face treated her sleep apnea, because it blew air into her mouth. Yep, uh huh, how stupid can you be???

Re: Kaiser Permanente coverage: advice please
I could tell a lot of Kaiser horror stories I encounter in my work, but a public forum is not the place. Just don't get old in the Kaiser system, enough said. Can't wait to see them in my rear view mirror.

Re: Kaiser Permanente coverage: advice please
When we had coverage through my husband's employer, we, too had coverage. But none of the ACA plans have CPAP coverage, as far as I can see.I have Kaiser thru my employer & my coverage includes DME I get my CPAP & all my supplies at no additional cost.

Re: Kaiser Permanente coverage: advice please
Kaiser's Covered California Plan for DME sucks. I'm not even sure they'd provide a wheelchair if you could no longer walk, although they claim to have DME coverage. https://healthy.kaiserpermanente.org/content/dam/kporg/final/documents/health-plan-documents/eoc/ca/individual-family/2024/off-silver-7...

Re: Need Some Help / 3 years of trying to adapt to CPAP
To help us help you, we need some information: Brand name of machine (Typically Philips Resperonics or ResMed) Model of Machine (usually written on the front--you have said alternately CPAP and BIPAP. Please confirm. Type of mask (full face, nasal, nasal pillows, nasal cradle)? Brand and name of mas...

Re: nasal decongestants
You're asking for positive stories, but I'm going to tell you the opposite as a warning. I was sick all the time as a kid, I caught everything and missed a lot of school for mostly upper respiratory infections (and I had undiagnosed cough variant asthma, but that's another story). My mom couldn't st...

Re: Medicare and Masks
Unfortunately this is not an Apria lie, this is a new rule set forth by Medicare to and I quote "stop fraud" Well, that sucks. I haven't had DME coverage in about 10 years, I just buy my own masks from our hosts at cpap.com or "parts" from Amazon and eBay. Since the masks last a LOT longer than the...

Re: I want to flow cool air into the mask...........
Another cool air person here. We don't have AC, and I don't bother to chill the water, but during the summer when it's warm, the air from the CPAP is always cooler than room air, and I often put my hands or wrists in front of the vent on my mask to help myself cool off. During the winter we keep our...

Re: valves seem to close when I exhale
We need to know which mask you are using. There have been some documented issues with leakage around the elbow that connects some masks to the hose, particularly full face masks. Sometimes it's a matter of paying attention to that spot and PROPERLY seating the elbow and the mask, sometimes the mask ...
