Re: How much will should I expect to Pay $$$

From my experience at the 50% mark you will be better off purchasing online without insurance. Of course how much better depends on the machine that you choose, and the machine you would have accepted from a brick and mortar DME. I did some numbers back when I got my machine and I recall around 70% ...

Re: a personal question..

While there may well be science on additional urine volume due to apnea, my personal situation does not seem to be thus. While I also got up multiple times during the night pre-cpap, I excreted very little in the way of volume on these trips. My theory for myself is that just that fact that I woke a...

Re: Afrin use for extended periods of time

I guess I am one of the lucky ex-nasal spray addicts. I used one in the 60's and 70's that is basically the same as Afrin. I just couldn't lay down to go to sleep without it. It finally got to the point it was hurting more than helping, I was constantly congested and constantly squirting and feeling...

Get your prescription and shop at CPAP.com. $1200 is way too much. Get a copy of your sleep study too.

Re: Anyone else spending Christmas alone?

I actually perfer the holidays alone. I have my kids home but we really don't do that much holiday celebrating. I think the holidays are too much about materialistic things and prefer not to be around a huge group of relatives, with animals and smoking. I don't think it is a problem at all to be alo...

Re: AHI of 5 -- would you CPAP?

I just saw this thread and when skimming the advice I did not see what I would respond. I am one of those with mild apnea. I am also a champion snorer. While I do have some apnea problems, I found that the majority of my sleep problem was that I snored so loudly that I woke myself up constantly grea...

Re: Respectfully, who runs this board?

I know I am a little late getting in on this but I have to add that I am NOT a paid plant. I am a normal person and enjoy this forum very much. Yes CPAP.com hosts this site, but in no way do they influence anything I say, nor have my words ever been cencored, and I am not one for mincing words. Are ...

Re: Stressed out over copay

A word of advice on the husband. Cancel all services NOW that are in your name that you don't need immedicately. He can go have a new phone set up in his own name. DO NOT let an ex or soon-to-be ex have the responsibility for transfering ANYTHING to his name for which you are currently responsible. ...

Re: Husband not supportive

I find your words disturbing "that he will not FORBID me to get CPAP" or something close to that. What a gem. No one will FORBID me to do anything. He obviously is not interested in your health. Hopefully he will come to understand and support you but don't be surprised if he does not. If one does n...

Re: cpap whistling

Many things will whistle when they are not seated tightly and vibrate. As someone above said, the vent cover is one that I have experienced and I am sure there are many other places that this can happen. If it is the vent cover, hold that down when the whistling happens and it will stop. Try to hold...

Re: Who would be a good canidate for an AUTO pap?

One more thing to add to the cost discussion. You say that you are comparing costs "including mask". You may have already bought the mask (and the humidifier too for that matter) as they are usually a one time purchase and the machine is the rent to buy. Check just the machine cost to compare out of...

Re: Sleep Dr refuses to give me RX

This kind of attitude is typical of doctors and hospitals in general. About 10 years ago I was told by a hospital that I could not have a copy of the xray of my leg. Of course I knew better and refused to leave without it. Once they understood that I KNEW that it was my right, they caved in a hurry....
