Re: OT: Mike & I have Pneumonia!

Doti, I haven't been on for quite some tme (been unemployed for 10 months and tag teaming between a sick mother and brother). I was alarmed to see your post about you and Mike. I am glad that you are both on the mend and will keep you both in my heart and in my prayers. Sending you virtual hugs! Debby

Resmed S9 CPAP Power Supply Broken?

I am getting an error message on my husband's machine. It keeps telling me to "check the 30/90W power supply unit and fully insert connector." I have checked several times. The only thing I noticed is that the 3 prong connector that gets inserted into the 3 small holes in the back of the machine now...

Re: Marijuana for Sleep Apnea

I haven smoked pot often in my life, but one particular incident really sticks out in my memory. I was with my soon to be first husband and his friend and friend's wife. My husband's friend had some pot and suggested we all smoke. Why not? It was only my 2nd or 3rd time. Well, it wasn't medical gra...

Re: Sleep Quality "improves with age"

I've often heard that older people (specifically seniors age 65+) don't need as much sleep. Additionally, if you are retired, chances are you may not have to get up as early as when you held down a full time job. I wonder if this contributes to the quality of better sleep that the older folks are e...

Re: Whats it called?

I don't think that this has anything at all to do with sleep apnea. I was reading my Kindle last night and had not been wearing my mask yet...did not think that I would fall asleep. Apparently I did "jerk" as you mention, even dropped my kindle on the floor, did not remember falling asleep and put ...

Re: Baby Wipes...what kind for Pillows?

I use Citrus II cpap mask wipes each morning. Then once a week I wash my Swift FX nasal mask and hoses in Ivory dish washing liquid and very warm water and rinse well. I use distilled vinegar in my humidifer - 1 part distilled vinegar 2 parts water, soak and rince well to disinefect humidifier. My n...

Re: OT: EVER HAVE A PINCHED NERVE IN THE NECK AND SEVERE PAIN?

Dear Friends, Thank you all for your kind advice. I did see my pain doctor and he put me on 100 mg Neurontin 3 times a day, Relafen - an antiinflammatory 500 mg twice a day with food, and dilauded 2 mg tablets - 2 every 4 hours. My pain is on the ceiling right now. It's awful. Nothing really seems ...

Re: Buying CPAP machine

APAP allows you to use your machine with a pressure range. A CPAP machine can only run in a straight pressure. For example, I have a Resmed s8 Autoset II APAP machine. I have it set to a pressure of 8. If I wanted to fine tune my pressure to see what the best pressure for me really is, I could run ...

Re: OT: EVER HAVE A PINCHED NERVE IN THE NECK AND SEVERE PAIN?

Thanks Dori. I do have some bio freeze in the house and I will try it. Also, I did go to the chiropractor twice, but that seemed to make it worse! I am going to ask my husband to rub some bio freeze on my neck/shoulder and see if it helps. The hospital gave me a sling, but I'm not sure as to why th...

Re: Buying CPAP machine

I can't tell you where to shop in Galveston - sorry about that! But, I can highly recommend the Resmed s9 APAP with climateline hose. Make sure that you have a humidifier as well. You will also need a mask and mask choice is VERY personal. You should try on masks with the machine running and you ly...

Re: Who gave you your sleep apnea diagnosis?

My sleep doctor first did a written screening with me. I was fatigued, diabetic, slightly depressed, etc. etc. He said that given the results of my sleep screening I should go ahead and have a sleep study, as he strongly suspected OSA. He explained in detail what OSA was and took the time to answer...

OT: EVER HAVE A PINCHED NERVE IN THE NECK AND SEVERE PAIN?

Dear Friends, I think that I may have a pinched nerve in my neck. The pain was so bad that I drove myself to the hospital on Wed evening. I have SEVERE pain - stabbing pain in the neck, traveling to my left should and down my left arm to my wrist. My shoulder and arm feel as though they are in a vi...

Re: Mask suggestions

As you probably know mask choice is a very personal thing. What is comfortable for me, may not be comfortable for you. That said, if you are a mouth breather, you might want to go for a full face mask. My husband's mouth drops open when he sleeps and snores very loudly. Even with a papcap, he manag...

Re: Question About Leaks

Dear Tip10, My husband was experiencing some redness and discomfort on his face wherever the silicone of the mask touched his face. We purchased a mask liner from http://www.padacheek.com and problem solved! I use a Swift FX and was having some condensation in the mask itself in the barrel area. So...

Re: My CPAP anniversary

Dear Janknitz, Congratulations on making it a full year! It's amazing isn't it? I mean, what we faced at first seemed insurmountable. Yet, here you are a whole year later and you've tamed the mask, or better yet, "become one with the mask." May you continue to enjoy peaceful restorative sleep in th...
