Re: A lot of early and mid-morning urination w/controlled OSA
Thanks Sheriff. I was wondering the same thing. If this is just a byproduct of having OSA, even if it it well-controlled.

A lot of early and mid-morning urination w/controlled OSA
Anyone else with well-controlled OSA (AHI = .8 to 1. have a lot of early and mid-morning urination? If I wake up to "go" at 4:00 am, by 6:00 am, I am already dying. And this goes on until about 9:00 am (I am up at 5 or 6 am). Unlike with a UTI, I have heavy urine output each time. I also have type 1...

Re: Seems everyone has Cpaps now
I am 49 years old and drove my husband out of the bedroom w/my snoring about 20 years ago. He had to sleep in the next room still with earplugs. After hearing that + excessive daytime sleepiness, my doc sent me for a sleep study to rule out OSA. He was stunned at the results. I am a thin Type 1 diab...

Re: Diabetes
To add to all the confusion, please bear in mind that type 1 and Type 2 diabetes are completely separate illnesses. As a nearly life-long type 1 diabetic, I produce no insulin. I do not have insulin resistance that will improve with weight loss as is characteristic of type 2. I believe that having s...

Re: Notice a difference with mild sleep apnea? (15 AHI)
I notice I feel crummy with an AHI of only 5. Granted during my study, it was 22, however, I now know that I need a really low AHI to feel good. So, I would not assume that you would feel ok with an AHI of 15. This seems way too high in my unexpert opinion and I would think that it would definitely ...

Re: Nothing but bad luck - Venting again
You are so close and have come so far to just throw it all in. I also feel your frustration. It took me 6 masks, no joke, to get one that would not leak. And, as I am not made of money, I ran up my charge card to buy these. I had to take my first machine back to the DME due to the fact that it was n...

Re: Diabetes
I have been a type 1 diabetic since the age of 11 (and am now 49) and I use an insulin pump. Before my CPAP and sleep apnea diagnosis, I was running really high morning sugars. The reason? Sleep apnea causes stress on the body which results in the release of a hormone called cortisol which directly ...

Re: What Machine features are essential for you?
I just updated from a Respironics CPAP to the Resmed S9 Elite and boy do I love it. It seems to be a much better machine. Things I now can't live without: 1) Pressure relief on exhalation 2) Humidifier w/auto-adjusting humidity 3) Data such as AHI on LCD screen (I know I will not get into analyzing ...

Re: Tired of waiting for CPAP to kick in!
1) LOL. Yes, Seroquel is the #1 "sleep offender". But you likely know better than anyone else the effect this med has on your sleep. Unless... is there any chance that, while it knocks you out, you don't really sleep? Do you notice if you go into REM sleep on it? Before CPAP, I didn't realize I had ...

Re: Tired of waiting for CPAP to kick in!
Sometimes medications that alter neurotransmitters such as psych meds or pain meds will result in mind-bending amounts of sedation and an increase in AHI or even central sleep apnea.. I have diabetic nerve pain and I noticed that when I was taking Cymbalta I felt like I could sleep all day, everyday...

Re: Does it really matter if air escapes through your mouth?
I am a big-time mouth breather and I use the ruby red chin strap that you can buy on the CPAP supply web sites. I notice it keeps my mouth closed really well but if I have to mouth breath due to nasal congestion I think that I do at least a bit. The FFM leaves marks all over my face more or less per...

Re: New to S9 Elite (but not to CPAP). How to get AHI?
Thanks. You-all were correct. I was looking at the sleep data late in the day as opposed to early. This morning I checked it first thing after I woke up and I did have an AHI. Eureka! This is the opposite of my old Respironics CPAP. With the old machine the data was not updated until some point late...

New to S9 Elite (but not to CPAP). How to get AHI?
Hi all: I just switched from the Respironics Remstar Plus to the Resmed S9 Elite. I have the CPAP and not the Autopap. I am finding it a bit more complicated. I have figured out most features by locating the clinician manual on line and the 18 minute video which was posted on how to do all the stuff...

Re: First two sleep study results may have been skewed???
I doubt they are "crooks", however, the PA may have just been educated a certain way. I'm no expert here, however, my thoughts are that if you get the "worst case scenario" during your study, then they will run the risk of setting your pressure too high. More apnea episodes occur with people while s...

Re: newbie,17 pressure, ffm leaks unless on v tightly
I have a pressure of 12 and I had to take my Quattro FFM back. Way too many problems. But, like you, I am a mouth breather and I also had to tighten the living dickens out of those FFM's despite this is NOT what the instructions say to do. But if it was on loosely, it just totally blew off of my fac...
