Re: APAP forcing me to breathe more than I want

Coming in late on this one but I can assure you that your machine is not trying to force you to breathe. APAPs just don't work that way. They follow your breathing rhythm; they don't lead. (Btw, I have the same machine and I think it is excellent). Sounds to me like you are experiencing sleep onset ...

Re: Resmed F20 (new)

I've recently been giving an F20. I find the fit (small) ok for me, I am female with a fat face and it seems to be ok. What I hated about it initially was whistling from the top arch of vent holes. I've manged to fix it by taping over a few of the central holes which seems to interrupt the air flow...

Re: Newbie advice -Resmed AirSense10 autoset

When trying out full face masks, don't skip the ResMed Quattro. It's an oldie but goodie despite its size and kludgy forehead pad. I've tried several FFMs over the years but none work as well for me or are as comfortable.

Re: Occassional bad headaches at 14 psi

Could the headaches be caused by the gallon and a half of water you say you drink every night? That's a helluva lot of water.

Re: Cpap with REM

Other than when a person cannot tolerate the changing pressure of an auto machine and is awakened by it, when would CPAP give better results than APAP, assuming the pressure range is correct? I'm not saying this is never the case but I can't imagine why it would be. I've tried it both ways and it's ...

Re: where in the resmed s9 case does the power supply go

Similar problem here with the S10 case. It's not quite big enough. Once you've packed the machine, hose and power supply there's no room for the mask. Never had that problem with the S8 case.

Re: Pros and cons of using or not using the humidifier feature

I used my S8 Elite for several years without the humidifier after finding that humidification causes congestion at higher levels with no discernible benefits. Also, the humidifier literally doubles the size of the S8 so it's a bother. When I got my new AutoSet I tried using the humidifier at first b...

Re: one size fits nobody

Interesting you say that. I asked for an auto machine because of my aerophagea and was told that I didn't qualify me for one on that basis. What's worse, I don't think my sleep doctor even knew that an auto machine might help with the gas. I learned about that on this forum. Maybe he should join as ...

Re: one size fits nobody

Flame wars aside, I have to say I've wondered the same thing myself regarding auto vs cpap. There was no medical reason for me to have an auto machine but I was able to exploit an insurance loophole to obtain an Autoset for Her. Additional cost to me was about $100, money extremely well spent. I hav...

Re: New User: Cleaning CPAP Machine Humidifier Reservoir

A couple of posts in this thread imply that the use of distilled water will prevent algae and bacterial growth. This is not the case. Distilled water no safer than tap water in this regard. Distilled water is pure water with no dissolved minerals but bacteria and algae are just as happy with it as t...

One night. I just put the mask on and went to sleep. I know that many struggle with the therapy but I had no trouble at all. I was very lucky.

Re: Need recommendation for full face mask

I've tried a few but keep coming back to the venerable Resmed Quattro. It's comfortable and it works. This mask helps keep your mouth from falling open which helps prevent aerophagia and, if you get the forehead thing adjusted properly, you can avoid the sores on the bridge of your nose. It's a good...

Re: OT.....Elections matter...live with it

America has a history of electing great leaders when they are needed most. I think that is what has happened and that DJT will really MAGA! If yesterday's entertainment was any indication, things are off to a great start. Spectacular fireworks finale. Best wishes to a beautiful country from a Canadi...
