planned power outage

The power company has announced that the power on our street will be shut off on Tuesday morning from 4-4:30. Any suggestions what I should do about my CPAP machine? Might the outage damage the machine? Do I need a surge protector? I assume the outage will wake me up so I can take the mask off.

Re: A newbie with nose bridge issues--already discouraged!

Your problems seem almost if they had been written by me! The sleep center where I had my study has provided me with many different masks to try. I finally have a system that works! It's the Mirage Ultra with a comfort care pad and a big white chin strap to keep the mask from leaking at the bottom. ...

Re: ResMed Swift LT vs. Swift FX

I have been using the Swift Lt with good results, except mouth leaking even with the large white chin strap. I am now trying the Swift FX with a smaller, soft, chin strap. The angle of the pillows gives a very stable seal: absolutely no leakage there. The hose for the FX hangs down for me rather tha...

My dear Dori, You and Mike are in my prayers, especially tonight when you both need a good sleep and calm for your difficult situation. I've read many of your posts and always appreciate your comforting support you give to people.

Re: First Morning - PR System 1 Auto / Swift FX

Hi, I do not use a chin strap. Somehow, with my unique body, the CPAP pressure seems to keep my mouth closed. When I do open my mouth, like to say something, it feels very strange to have the air rushing out. I was worried about mouth breathing because I think I normally would at times due to nasal...

Re: First Morning - PR System 1 Auto / Swift FX

Last night was my first time with the Swift FX. The mask worked fine, but I had trouble with the chin strap and my mouth popping open. Do you use the mask without a chin strap?

Re: Keeping a log

I don't have software, yet, but keep track of the machine readings daily on the screen and make comments about which mask I've used and what the night was like. It is useful when compared with the download of my chip.

problem getting seal with thin, unpadded face

Is there anyone out there who has a thin face with practically no padding under the skin who can get a good seal on a FFM? I've tried many masks but can't get one that is reliable for not leaking. One night it may work fine, then not work at all the next.

Re: How old were you when

I was just shy of 73. Seems awfully old to be dealing with all the masks, leaks, sore nose, and sore forehead. I wonder if it would have been easier if I had started years ago.

I use Clearly Natural Unscented Pure and Natural Glycerine Soap. Found in a pump bottle with other hand cleaners in the super market.

I start with the inside of the mask, then t...

[quote="Bibs"]What Joy said. I clean my nasal pillow about every 2nd morning. Top up humidifier every few nights with a bottle of previously boiled water that's beside the machine Boiled water should not be used, only distilled water. Boiling water concentrates the minerals in the water. Distilled w...
