Re: Resmed S9 compared to its previous model
I have both an S8 AutoSet II and an S9 AutoSet... so can give a comparison of the 2: - The S9 is quieter than the S8. - The S9 has the capability of using a ClimateLine hose, which will prevent rainout--if you get an S9, also get the ClimateLine hose rather than the one it comes with. - The S9 uses ...

Re: Climateline rainout
I only noticed the rainout in the mask... but I'll check the hose if it happens again--good idea there. I use an Activa LT mask and the moisture was accumulating in the ridges of the mask--I notice when I turn over and it gets on my nose.

Climateline rainout
I've had the S9 Autoset literally since it came out a few years ago... ordered within the month or so before ResMed instituted their price controls back in... would that be 2009? I have also had the climateline hose since the start, and use the auto climate control setting with a temperature of 75. ...

Re: CPAP resistant--and unhappy about it
It does take time to get used to, and the fact that you have done it in the past shows that you CAN do it. However, one thing is for certain is that if you don't use it (as you admitted non-compliance) you won't get used to it. You need to force yourself every night to use it and to commit to it--un...

Re: S9 Humidifier blows warm air, can this be changed?
I don't seem to have a climate control setting, am I right in thinking you need the climateline tube for that? Yes... the climate control setting is not enabled unless a climateline hose is attached. I think getting the climateline hose is well worth it--not only for the temperature control but als...

80 for the climate control setting was way to warm for me too... I set mine to 75.

Re: my cpap doesnt help me
What type of mask are you using? Is it a nasal pillow mask? If so, have you tried a standard nasal mask like the Activa LT (where it covers your nose rather than just your nostrils)? From what you are saying, it sounds like you might be using a nasal pillow mask and the pillows aren't staying open, ...

Re: Why treating apnea is important
Thank you all for the well-wishes for my brother. I think some important points have been raised here--and reflect what I was trying to get across--that treating sleep apnea isn't just about daytime sleepiness and mental fog, which are probably what brings most people in for a sleep study, but it is...

I'm glad you stuck with it and made it work for you... some people would give up much sooner... and trust me, it is worth it! Good for you!

Why treating apnea is important
This is for those of you who may not yet be treating your apnea, or those who are frustrated with your adjustment to cpap and considering giving up. I know it can be difficult, but maybe this story can help you understand why treatment is important and inspire you to continue. It doesn't seem like a...

Re: Quick question for those using apap
I started on apap with a wide range prescribed by my doctor since they were unable to titrate me from the sleep study (7 - 15). After a couple of months, and the RT from my doctor's office changed me to straight cpap 11. Even though that is where my pressure often ends up on apap, my AHI was signifi...

Re: Ticked Off
The heated hose on the S9 only works with the humidifier on... it works in conjunction with the humidifier where you set the air temperature you want and it will adjust the water and hose temperature to achieve the desired air temperature with a relative humidity of 80%. There is no way to turn on t...

Re: Discouraged...about to give up...
It sounds like you have probably only had a week or two since you figured out your mask issues... so you really haven't had 4 weeks of effective treatment. I think you need to give it more time... it can take several months to feel the positive effects, and you of course realize that without treatme...

Re: Lifespan of S9 Autoset hypoallergenic filter?
I change my hypoallergenic filters more often--every month or two... since they are collecting more stuff, they tend to get dirty faster. You can tell by looking at them if they should be changed--just compare against a clean one and use your best judgment.

Re: Check all your possible drug interactions in 10 min.
For me, I will stick with my Pharmacist's and my doctors (GP and Rheumatologist) counsel. Certainly wise advice for anyone... though I still think there is value in the web site. I think the key here is to educate yourself and ask your doctor about anything you find concerning--I would imagine in m...
