Re: Whistling sound in RemStar Pro without humidifier
Yes, that's what seems to be making the noise (you can't plug the hose in at all without it, as far as I can see).

Whistling sound in RemStar Pro without humidifier
I am leaving on a business trip this afternoon and am not planning to bring the humidifier unit since I don't really use it anyway. I decided to test the machine without it last night, and I'm glad I did. There is an unbearable whistling, whooshing sound that comes from the air outlet -- it doesn't ...

Re: How long until you see improvement in BP?
If I understand your post correctly, you took a vacation from cpap for about two weeks for holidays. I know that doesn't relate to your question, but it really bothers me, so thought I'd comment. I've only been on cpap since May, but I'd never consider taking a vacation without my cpap equipment. I...

Re: How long until you see improvement in BP?
What machine do you have? 7 day average? Is it a Respironics machine of some type? If so EncoreViewer software is available and you do not need a prescription to get it. I have the software. I didn't need an RX. Yes, I have the M-Series Pro. My current supplier can not sell me the software and card...

Re: How long until you see improvement in BP?
At diagnosis Apr07, my BP was 210/110 (115?); put on <1800 mgs sodium/day, angiotension receptor blocker (ARB), diuretic. Now, it averages 130/70. I still take a diuretic and don't salt (or eat deli meats or processed foods) but I still have a lot of excess wt; docs think I'll be able to drop it af...

Re: How long until you see improvement in BP?
If you don't have software to record your experience every night, you're simply guessing. Without gauges, your therapy is like trying to fly a plane without instruments.....or driving in the dark without headlights. I only see my 7 day average AHI; can't see daily results without the software and I...

How long until you see improvement in BP?
I'm told that OSA causes high blood pressure... how long has it taken before you have seen an improvement in BP after CPAP treatment? I've been using the CPAP for two months (with about two weeks off for holidays in that time) and if anything, my BP has increased a bit. (Average diastolic up about 7...

Re: CPAP is effective... but now what?
A good question, but probably not. My doctor considered that before sending me for the sleep tests, but I have no symptoms. In fact, if family history is anything to go by, my perimenopause is likely to begin very late and go on for ages. (Oh joy.)secret agent girl wrote:Could (peri)-menopause be a factor?

Re: CPAP is effective... but now what?
If I were in your situation, I would have a good long chat with my doc, whichever one shows the most likelihood to spend some time explaining your sleep study results and helping you chart a course of resolution. First, use CPAP therapy to eliminate as many apneas & hypopneas as possible and get as...

Re: CPAP is effective... but now what?
Thanks for all the info! #1 The report did not literally say you did NOT have any restless leg activity, it just did not say that you did, right? I would want to specifically ask the doctor if the data regarding the arousals could be indicative of Periodic Limb Movement Disorder, and if not, to expl...

Re: CPAP is effective... but now what?
I've used a wedge and slept otherwise propped up in the past when I've had upper respiratory infections. It just doesn't work for me, unfortunately. I do see that CPAP.com ships outside the US, which is great. I'll look into it for the software. As for the rest, well, who knows. My husband is a neur...

Re: CPAP is effective... but now what?
Hmm, GERD is an interesting thought. I do get reflux from time to time but generally it's because I've done something stupid (e.g. eating or drinking far too much, or something I'm sensitive to, within a couple of hours of bedtime). I have about 3 weeks of Nexium on hand from when I was taking a str...

Re: CPAP is effective... but now what?
I've been using CPAP for 6-8 weeks now and I'm quite comfortable with it now.

CPAP is effective... but now what?
I recently had my second night at the sleep lap and got the results. The CPAP almost completely eliminates my apneas -- AHI 1.4 at a setting of 5; however, I still have severe sleep fragmentation and non-restorative sleep. I still feel awful, maybe slightly improved from before CPAP therapy but it's...
