Re: Battery Backup Design Works!!

Many moons ago, I put together a design for a battery backup system. I've changed my ASV unit twice since I created it. I finally had to replace the battery. And you know what? It continues to work like a champ!! I now have it set up to act as my primary power source. So regardless of the cause any...

Re: ASV people, I'd love some feedback. New to this.

I got an ASV machine a week ago, and thanks to pugsy and other members of this forum, its been working great. Glad to hear it's working well for you. There is a lot to say for the power of a group like this. We can learn from the experiences of others. And that can make all the difference. Happy dr...

Re: Help interpreting data -- all CAs??

Agreed. If that chart is common, then the CA events should be addressed. Print and bring that to your sleep doctor. Discuss it with your doctor to see what your doctor recommends. If your doctor won't address it, find another doctor.

Re: Central Apnea

...First night back on ASV...no centrals... Of course, if you look at the waveform data you will see (as you obviously know), that there were no centrals because your machine steps in before the central can occur. I know that when I fall asleep the pressure really ramps up. It used to awaken me. No...

Re: My BiPAP ASV Adv. Does NOT Want me to Fall Asleep!

... My machine does a great job syncing to my breathing. I do notice it kicking in on its own and I think to myself "Wow. I had no idea I wasn't breathing. That's awesome -- it's got my back.." ... Perfectly described!! And you're right. I went from REALLY DREADING falling asleep to longing for it....

Re: Need help with recent ASV results with AirCurve 10

If your mask is leaking a great deal, as it appears to be, then you probably can get some better results by adjusting it. Tight, but not too tight. Too loose and it leaks. Too tight and it leaks. That "Goldilocks" zone can be frustrating to find. Worst case, you might need to really push for a full ...

Re: My BiPAP ASV Adv. Does NOT Want me to Fall Asleep!

MisterClean, welcome to the wonderful world of central sleep apnea. From your descriptions it sounds as if you suffer the some of the same issues that I do. In particular, as you fall asleep you fail to breathe regularly. That causes you to feel as if the machine is forcing you to breathe - even if ...

Me? Oh, I've got a great neurologist, who also specializes in sleep medicine. I've had all sorts of tests ... MRIs, Neuro-Psychology, Neuro-Ophthalmologist, Modified Barium Swallow Test, Sleep Studies .. You name it. I have Sporadic OPCA (Olivoponotocerebellar Atrophy). That is, my cerebellum and br...

Re: Any bad experiences with ASV?

I can't even tell there is air coming through right unless I hold my breathe and see if the mask reacts. ... I thought the ramp was suppose to slowly go up until it got to the right place and then stay on the higher air flow. My does just the opposite. Any one have any suggestions??? Seajay, I can'...

Re: Difference between ASV and BiPap ST

The devices that actually "breathe for you" are called "ventilators" and use higher pressures. Despite the adaptive servo "VENTILATOR" term, the A10 ASV is limited to 25 cmH2O pressure and isn't like "real" ventilators. Archangle, you normally provide very good information, but I'm afraid I have to...

Re: Cheyne-Stokes Respiration -- When to go to ASV machine?

Archangle, it sounds as if the OP and his doctor understand the cause of the PB. There is no "cure". There is just learning to manage the symptoms. In this case, it appears taking medication is all that's required. In addition to the more common heart issues, periodic breathing can be a marker of so...
