Rinsing disposable filters?
Hi! I've been on the CPAP for a few years and everything has been fine. However, my allergies were really kicking up and I couldn't figure out why...till I checked my filter on my CPAP. Ew. It's a disposable filter - Resmed Elite II - and the home health care can get me a new one in the next few day...

Taking my mask off in the night - due to congestion?
I've been fighting a Cold of Doom the last week or so and the last two nights have been pretty bad. I've woken up a few times and I've managed to take my mask off! I've only been on CPAP a few months but I was doing really well. The problem - I think - is that I find it hard to breathe through my mo...

Re: Do you ever go a night without CPAP?
Maybe my standards are higher than most - but if I'm going to have sex with someone, I'd want them to be truthful with me and I'd be truthful with them. Like Cher said in Clueless, "Look how picky I am about my shoes and they only go on my feet!" Just ask yourself - would you want her to keep someth...

Re: When do you use your humidifier?
I use it year round, but I have very dry sinuses because my allergy medication is a steroid nose spray. During the summer I use it without heat, and during the fall I set it on 3 or 4 (out of 6) depending on if I'm congested or not. I haven't had a winter with the machine yet, but I get dried out pr...

Re: Allergies & CPAP
Harry - Bronchitis is viral about 90% of the time. Irene - I tried some Robitussin (has the same stuff as Mucinex) and it helped, but I think upping the humidity helped a lot too. I'm coughing on my own now and it's uncomfortable, but I don't feel like my lungs are trying to escape via my mouth anym...

Allergies & CPAP
I have allergies somewhat badly and a few times a year I get bronchitis. It just seems to happen - drainage ends up in my lungs and I cough until it's gone. I use a steroid nose spray but it can only do so much. This is the first time this has happened since I had my CPAP and it seems worse than nor...

Thanks all!
Pugsy - you're probably getting the storms I'm getting. I'm in St. Louis.

Power outage and CPAP
I'm going to be buying a battery here shortly for my S8, but until then...what will happen if I'm using it and the power goes out? I ask because we've been having a lot of thunderstorms where I live and I'd love to know that if the power goes off I won't suffocate due to wearing a full face mask. Ca...

Re: Quattro not working, now what?
Wife has tried both small & extra small Quattro FFM and cannot get leaks under control. Anyone gone from a Quattro to something else that worked better? Her best results were with a Activa and taping, but went to a FFM because of breaking out from the tape. Is it possible it's too tight? I have tha...

Re: Apneas during Meditation/Guided Imagery?
That's very interesting. I really felt like I was breathing very shallow, which is just the opposite of what she wanted me to do. I'll ask her if I can bring the machine next time. Just keep in mind that using it during non-sleeping time might impact the data that comes off of it when you take it b...

Re: POLL: Which type of mask is your primary mask?
I love my FF mask. At my sleep study, they had me try the FF first, and I said, "this is it," and then tried the nasal only and I hated it. Any time I moved my mouth I could feel it shifting and the like. The only thing I don't like is not being able to wear my glasses with it on, but on the plus si...

Missing a night - lesson learned!
I've been on CPAP for about a month, maybe a bit more. I'm one of the lucky ones - I was diagnosed with an AHI of just over 60, which is fairly severe from what I understand, and I had no problems adjusting to CPAP. I slept the whole night with it the first night and while there has been a few slip ...

I don't think he's a troll. He reminds me a lot of myself, a few years back. Let me explain - though my post is directed more at him - because it might help explain where I think he's coming from. Oh, and I think he's still reading it. No one writes that much and then scampers off. Of all of their r...

Re: CPAPtalk Posts On Twitter
Now that we have a CPAPtalk.com twitter, I've been able to answer many questions about CPAP that others have. So it's you that's doing it! One thing you might want to keep in mind - you sent me an @ message to something I had posted sending me here, if I needed help adjusting to CPAP. The only thin...

Re: Poll: Are you happy with your current supplier? VOTE Please
I like my DME, more or less. I go through Barnes Jewish Homecare (which is probably local to the St. Louis region). They were quick, nice, and they have 24/7 call-in service for problems. They're more expensive than an online DME but my insurance pays for 80%, so once that's taken out, it's much che...
