Re: Has CPAP resolved your "Mystery" Illnesses
A thryoid that is not functioning correctly or if a person has had their thyroid removed can experience the systems of fibromyalgia. It happened to me when my thryroid was removed three years ago. After 3 months of CPAP I feel better but not 100%. Every night I take an Aleve and used to take one in ...

Re: Rainout of a different kind.
Miss smarty here thought she had rainout resolved. Bought a darling pink cover that goes great in my pink and white bedroom. Alas, I live in Iowa with its ever changing weather. After two weeks of cold rain and running my furnace yesterday's high temp was a balmy 67*. No furnace tonight! Around 1:00...

Re: Newbie would like to hear success stories, please.
It's now been three months since I started using a CPAP and can't begin to describe the difference it's made in my life. I can think again, even in the middle of the afternoon. Sleep so sound that many nights I barely move. My cat has figured this out and often sleeps right on me rather than just ne...

Re: Insurance Management
Impatient -- you mention you've given up on your sleep doctor. Where do you live? I've found that in Des Moines, IA a city of around 300,000 peaple we have two large sleep clinics that are run by the two competing hospital systems. You might want to try to find another sleep doctor. I originally wen...

Re: Anyone else heard about ResMed stopping Internet sales?
leegbgt -- you said Companies are not allowed to bill less than Medicare for non-Medicare patients. This is flat out false. We live in a free market society and DMEs can and do bill non-Medicare patients anything they want. Since Medicare pays a mostly reasonable price for the equipment most DMEs ch...

Re: Don't Think Anyone can help-just need to vent!!
Good heavens. I never read the info that comes with my Xanax prescription and didn't know it impacted my sleep apnea. Have been taking it for 10 years for panic attacks and stopping it is not possible. But, I'm think I'll try to stop taking one before bed. There are other things that I know impact m...

Re: OT: What do you do for a living?
Darned if I understand what I do for a living since I am a hippy liberal from the 1960s who totally believes we need 100% socialized medice in the US. Officially, I work for a health insurance company for which I get paid what I consider to be a generous salary to write email and to go to meetings. ...

Re: CPAP and Fatigue - Kind a long
Hang in there. I've been on CPAP since mid-July and noticed a difference within a week or so. While I know everyone is different CPAP gave me back my life. I can think again and while I get tired the awful fatigue is gone. Still nap on the weekends. CPAP works!

Replacement Parts
I've been on CPAP since July 17. After reading about the need to change nasal pillows every three months or so I called my DME and was told they don't sell just the nasal pillows. There recommendation is to change out the complete head gear every six months and that my insurance will pay for it. Doe...

Re: For Those Who Like To Nap - Update No 2
I only get to take naps on the weekends and most of the time I don't wear my CPAP because it takes too long for me to go to sleep. But, after reading about the numbers others are getting maybe I'd feel better if I did wear the CPAP for naps. Think I'll give it a try this weekend.

To Pugsy: Thanks for all the information. My insurance will probably pay for new pillows so I think I'll call my DME. I wear a small but will pass on your kind offer to trade.

Re: Nasal Cushions- need some help
Hey Pugsy, did you say that the nasal pillow needs to be replaced every 6 weeks to two months? I just started CPAP in mid-July and am still using the same pillow as when I started. Everything seems to be okay. How can you tell when you need a new pillow? Do you automatically change every two months?...

Re: Will You Get the Swine Flue Vaccine?
1. Absolutely not. They don't work and it most likely would make me sick. 2. I think Sleep Apnea can be considered a chronic condition but I don't think it puts us in the class of those that "need" flu shots. My DME told me that if I got a cold or flu to turn up the humidity to 3. Sounds good to me ...

Re: Is and SSRI like Zoloft safe to take with apnea?
HCTZ causes me stomach problems and can make me light headed. Prozac makes my hands shake and gives me really wild dreams. But, I'm one of those weird people that suffer common side effects from just about every drug I take. Everybody is different but I think it is important to know side effects can...

Re: Is and SSRI like Zoloft safe to take with apnea?
During my journey to discover the cause of my awful fatigue I learned the Prozac I was taking at night was causing me to sleep lighter. While I've taken Prozac for years it was at the suggestion of my psychiatrist that I only started taking it at night a couple a years ago because it was chewing up ...
