Re: Tips for travelling with a CPAP.
If you are using a backpack traveling around Europe and carrying your cpap in that, you might want to wrap it in bubble wrap. Maybe use ziplock plastic bag for mask, hose extension cord, power block etc.

Re: WEIGHT GAIN! In TEARS!!!
It does not take a lot for your system to enter starvation mode. Could you show some documentation to support this claim? Thanks. Oh holy one of all knowing, do your own Google search. My comment is just that a comment. My knowledge comes from a weight loss program run by our local hospital. Last c...

Re: WEIGHT GAIN! In TEARS!!!
Cpap is not making you gain. You said that you are barely eating....well not eating enough also makes you gain weight. Your body goes into starvation mode and holds onto any calories you put into your system. It does not take a lot for your system to enter starvation mode. Take a breath and pay atte...

Re: Resmed S9 odor from airplane
Sorry I don't have a solution to your problem but I don't understand how you allowed your medical equipment to be placed in the cargo hold. I fly all the time and on different airlines and never have I been required or even asked to place my cpap case in the cargo hold. I know it is hindsight but ne...

Re: Waking up to popping sound
I am not familiar with your machine but will agree a heated hose helps along with equaling out your humidity between temperature setting and humidity setting. Colder room temp and hotter cpap temp will cause condemnation...rain out in the hose.

I guess it depends on your job. If you are not driving or using heavy equipment and have for example an office type job, why would you tell your employer? It is your business.

Did you change the amount eaten? Even too much of a healthy diet will make you gain.

Re: Hospital loaners, settings based on...?
I just spent time in both a hospital and a rehab center after a hip replacement. Prior to my surgery I was worried about how the cpap issue would be handled. Not a problem, I woke up in PACU a with my cpap! They were happy I had my machine with me.

Re: Recovery room and Cpap
I am 3 weeks post op for my hip replacement. It seems all the worrying I did prior to surgery concerning cpap was needless. When I arrived in pre op they labeled my machine and took it right to the pacu so it would be all set up for me when I arrived from surgery. I used the cpap in recovery with ox...

Re: sleep apnea and travelling at high altitudes
Well my first reaction is you are not concerned with your OSA now so why worry about being at higher altitude? You didn't say how high up you plan on going either. If you were using cpap now there would not be much of a difference at altitude. I have slept at 11,000 ft above sea level with my apap a...

Re: How many CPAP users exist, and how much profit do DMEs make?
Some people take advantage of their insurance and stockpile supplies in their closet. Often you see them being sold. This causes everyones insurance premiums to go up and benefits go down. Not everyone who stockpile supplies might be doing it to sell their supplies and make money! Some might be doi...
