Re: Best Mask Cleaner

Any soap that is NOT antibacterial will be gentle enough not to ruin your equipment, but strong enough to actually clean. Also, baby wipes are a great "quick" option for travel or for the days that you don't have enough time to do a thurough cleaning. I wouldn't substitute the baby wipes for actual ...

Re: What should a RT be able to do for you?

I'm so sorry you've been having so much trouble. What a nightmare!!! Your mask probably needs to be refitted and resized and probably changed. Its like shoes: how can you run a marathon if they don't fit right? And it doesn't matter what one person says about a mask. There are tons of different ones...

Re: What are indications that CPAP can be discontinued??

I've lost about 80 lbs this year and my pressure needs have not gone down at all. I tried lowering the pressure and my AHI got worse. It has way more to do with how your throat is built than what you weigh. This is SO true! Please do not discontinue the use of your CPAP until you have been TESTED a...

"How to Make CPAP Easier" Presentation

I am putting together a presentation for our AWAKE CPAP
Support Group called "How to Make CPAP Easier." As a CPAP user, what are some
of the "ticks & tips" you've tried and/or used to make your CPAP experience easier?

Re: Rage against the (cpap) machine-- or, why I hate Climateline

I would keep trying to work with the DME company. I know thats probably not the answer that you wanted, but they SHOULD be helping you! Not sending you back to the hamster wheel. Maybe you should request a different machine since this seems to be a popular problem judging by the thread. If the DME c...

Re: Is this out of line?

that should be the "billable" charge if it was a Type 1 test (which is an in lab test). That seems ridiculously high for a home study. (btw - I'm the clinical coordinator for a sleep disorders center in a hospital in texas. we are looking into offering home testing but haven't done it yet because th...

Re: Strange feeling in my chest......

I haven't heard of this happening (doesn't mean it hasn't, just mean I haven't heard of it.) It wouldn't be a bad idea to call the DME company that you recieved the machine and mask from and ask to talk to their RRT (respiratory therapist) about it, or call your sleep doctor and tell them about it. ...

Re: Newbie Here, Sleep Study Tonight

Dear Newbie, I am a registered sleep tech (RPSGT) and have been working in sleep for almsot 5 years. I am so sorry your experience wasn't very good. I will tell you, it is equally as frustratiting to the tech when wires and sensors don't cooperate. Even if you do have to go back for a second night, ...

Re: cheyne Stroke Respiration

I would advise taking the "observations" (I assume this is off a download of somekind from the machine) to your sleep physician and let them look at it.

Re: Sore throat

If you are hesitant to try taping your mouth (I would worry about a skin reaction or marks that would last all day), you can always try a chin strap. You can get these from the DME company that supplied the CPAP machine but I think they might need a "script" from your doctor, which they should easil...

(last night the thing almost drowned me)
Could you please describe what you mean that "the thing almost drowned" you? I'd like to geta better idea of what your talking about to see if I can help, and also so I can help anyone else that I notice has a similar problem.

Thanks!

Re: Why is it necessary to have a support team?

It is EXTREMELY important to have a support team, especially in the beginning. I would advise that you search online for a local CPAP Support group where you can go and meet others who are dealing with the same struggles and successes you are as well as have face time to talk with sleep professional...
