Re: Lower average pressure with AirSense 11 Autoset

Both set to FF mask? Some Oscar plots between the two might help here. The AS10 has a bigger motor than the 11... no idea if this matters here. Both set to FF. I didn't know about the difference in blower motors. Perhaps that has something to do with it. I appreciate the suggestion of going back to...

Lower average pressure with AirSense 11 Autoset

Starting four nights ago I replaced my aging AirSense 10 Autoset with the newer 11. The prescribing professional and I did everything we could to keep all the settings the same, including max and min pressure, ramp, EPR, etc. I did not accidently pick the "for Her" algorithm or the "soft" version of...

Using OSCAR with a new CPAP

I apologize in advance if this is well worn territory, but my search skills have failed. I am a happy CPAP and OSCAR user for many years. I just replaced my trusty AirSense 10 AutoSet (37028) with an AirSense 11 AutoSet (39523). No problems with the former, but I have used it daily for a decade and ...

Re: Airsense 10 is 8 years old, keep using it?

I find myself in the same position as others. My Airsense 10 is about 8 years old and the message panel is telling me that the motor has reached its intended lifespan. Medicare plus supplement will pay for a new one, leaving me only the Part B deductible, which I always exhaust anyway. I'm not going...

Re: Risking surgery with General Anesthetic

I don't have UK experience, but I spent much of my life representing UK insurers who covered medical professional liability around the world, and I sincerely believe that USA and UK standards and practices are similar. Anesthesiologists have done a terrific job over the last 25 years of improving th...

Lost 100 pounds: no improvement

I have been missing from the forum for quite some time simply because CPAP has been working like a charm for years and I barely think about it anymore. Naturally, as an old person, I have no shortage of other health issues to occupy my attention. However, I have an observation to share in connection...

Re: Contributors Qualifications

I was filling out a medical history recently, and I was astonished by the amount of medical care I have consumed over the course of the last 68 years, especially considering that I feel pretty healthy. I have been attended by urologists, neurologists, otolaryngologists, ophthalmologists (enough time...

Re: Medicare and Supplememtal Insurance

Pugsy is totally correct, of course, but I would add that AirSense 10 is a very popular device, and replaceable parts for it like masks and hoses are standard. So any DME that accepts Medicare and carries CPAP equipment ought to be able to help you.

Re: CPAP while in hospital for unrelated illness

Best of luck with the surgery. You're right, the prognosis for early stage colon cancer is excellent, and for many patients surgery is definitive treatment with no need for chemotherapy. It's been almost 20 years since I had my colon cancer. My surgeon told me I would never miss that foot of sigmoid...

Re: Routine endoscopic screening with known sleep apnea - accommodations?

I work with hospitals on medical malpractice liability issues, and as a result, I spend a lot of time talking to risk managers and patient safety officers. There was a time when ignorance about sleep apnea posed some dangers during endoscopic procedures, but everyone is highly aware of the issues no...

Re: Flonase (fluticasone)

Yes, my ENT says there is no problem with indefinite use of fluticasone. She wants me to use it because she says I have an eardrum issue that demands that I keep my eustachian tube in good working order, so I will. Less welcome, she asked me to start using my humidifier, which I stopped doing becaus...
