Re: Best mask for side sleepers?
I have been using the ResMed Mirage Activa for nine years. I have found it very good for side sleeping. It works well with high pressures.

Re: Altitude question
Thanks for the advice, friends.
Wulfman, I am surprised you remember me. It has been a long time since I was a regular on this board.

Altitude question
The only posts I can find on this issue are rather old. I am ordering a new machine through my insurance and a local DME. The DME seems to know little about altitude issues. I live at a low altitude, but since retiring, I want to travel. I know some of my destinations will be higher than the limits ...

Re: Lansinoh
I have used it in my nostrils without problems. Only a light coating, of course. As long as you don't inhale it, you shouldn't have a problem. It should be safer than petroleum jelly or even Vicks vapor rub.

Re: Opinions on use of wake-promoting meds like provigil?
Provigil saved my life. I was falling asleep while driving!. I took Provigil until I could get a sleep study, then kept using it for a while after I got my bipap. Pretty soon I didn't need it.

Some masks have a port for people to use if they need supplemental oxygen.

Re: Work and Sleep Study Troubles
I just want to offer some encouragement. I also fell asleep at work, driving, etc. Your bosses need a note from a doctor, but your doctor does not seem the least bit helpful. I hope you find a solution soon. Sorry about all the preachy posts above.

Holland America had a "medical needs" form that I filled out in advance. I ordered distilled water on that form. There was a very small charge. I also filled out info for my dad, who was travelling with a wheelchair, oxygen concentrator, and portable oxygen. There was no problem. We even had plenty ...

My advice is to absolutely avoid ANY machine that has a top pressure of 20. If you are at 19 now, you may need 20+ in a year or two. This happened to my sister--she is stuck with a machine that only goes to 20, even tho she suspects she may need a higher pressure now. Most straight cpaps top out at ...

We have storm-related power outages out here in the wild west. So far, I don't have a backup battery. Last night, we had a real killer of a storm--large hail stones that did substantial damage to the house and tore up our roses, which were starting to bud. The lawn looked like someone dumped a gigan...

When I tried the shallow Activa, I got a leak around the eyes/top of the nose. I switched back to my standard, and the leak was gone. The very top of the opening is narrower on the standard, even tho the overall opening is larger. I have a very narrow nose bridge, and this explains the leaks, I thin...

Insulting statements
Some people seem to think lawyers are fair targets for insults, also. I often restrain myself from replying when I see such insults, often paired with gross misinformation. I keep quiet because I don't want to engage in flame wars with people who get thrills from starting arguments. Moogy P.S. I als...

Any Star Trek fans on the forum? If so, do you remember the minor character on "Deep Space Nine" with the nickname "Moogy"? Moogy was the mother of the Ferengi bartender. (The Ferengis were the race with the bald heads and VERY large ears.) Her grown children called her Moogy as a pet family name. S...
