Re: COVID 19, CPAP, Ventilator MEGA THREAD...everything go here please
I haven't posted here for a while, and I haven't read this entire thread through. But a few thoughts on trying to turn CPAP machines into ventilators. Back in 2010, when I was prescribed an Adaptive Servo Ventilator machine, there were two on the marked-- The ResMed VPAP and the Respironics AutoSV m...

Re: new ASV users
Isn't ASV prescribed for patients with other problems than CHF? I'm on ASV because I experience odd patterns of central apneas, fractured sleep patterns, as well as OSA. It isn't so much the servo ventilation that I need as the machine's rapid response to breathing changes.

Re: Unusual TSA Checkpoint Experience
For the longest time, I haven't had to take the machine out of the bag. Then, I didn't fly for nearly two years. A couple of weeks ago, I flew again. Nio problems on the outbound leg...I was selected for 'precheck', and actually got treated nicer than I have been for a long time at our airport (whic...

Not only that, but machines have improved dramatically in the last six years. What you get to replace that machine will be vastly superior in every respect.LSAT wrote:6 years is most likely near it's useful life. I may not be worth spending to get it repaired. Get a new or almost new replacement.

Re: Weird Symptoms
This could be any number of things, but the first guess is an apnea event the machine is not handling properly. Do you have your detailed data?

Re: CPAP vs APAP vs BiPAP (poll)
Some of us see a big difference between CPAP and APAP. I tried CPAP with my APAP for just a few nights a couple years ago, with the CPAP pressure set to what I believed to be my 'titrated pressure', and felt far worse afterwards. And even though the range of the APAP was not terrible large, and cent...

Re: "A Philips Respironics data card was not found"
I wonder if the card needs to be formatted.
Come to think about it, this is what is going on with my card, and why I haven't looked much at data (machine seems to be doing a good job, though). I have always thought I may be using it with an underpowered computer (netbook).

Re: Is it normal for CPAP to blow air pressure intermittantly?
What is the model of this machine. If this is an autoadjusting machine, this might be normal. As far as an extension cord goes, CPAP machines don't usually use that much power. Any kind of extension cord of reasonable length should not cause problems. Try this: Plug both a small (60 watts or so) inc...

Re: Power failure alarm for the Aussies! (may work on US grid)
That alarm will work fine in the US. BTW, our line voltage here is 120/240 volt single phase, with most small appliances running on 120 volts. (3 phase in homes is nearly unheard of ). The couple of times we lost power here, I did not wake up right away. Thus a power failure alarm would be useful. P...

Re: How to adjust S9 settings for high altitude?
You may be getting nonlinear responses from your machine's internal pressure sensors at that altitude. Try boosting your lower and upper pressures by 2 cm and see what difference that makes. You might also, and an alternative, try lowering it 1 cm to start with and see if that helps. In any case, I ...

Re: Question about my 8 day report
From what I can see here (Disclaimer: I am not a doctor!), your therapy looks quite good. Your AHI is consistently below 5, something many folks here long for. I am not sure how this machine is measuring mask leak. If it is showing intentional leak (what comes out of the mask vents) plus unintention...

Re: How can I know if I have a malfunction machine
I doubt you have a problem with your machine. We all have bad nights. If you see this happening consistently, it most likely indicates a mask problem, etc. or a change in your breathing at night. It looks from your numbers that you are 'dialed in' pretty accurately, so you might want to check mask, ...

Re: 1st 2 weeks ever on ASV-SleepyHead Data
Very interesting, NateS! I think that you are one of a group (which includes me) that have a lot of interesting things going on during sleep, without any clearly defined pattern. My inital AHI was higher, around 96, but you have a wider variety of sleep problems than I did. In both cases though, we ...
