Re: Giving away cpap machine
I think it is much harder for those who do not have symptoms that bother them before they begin treatment. For me, I was so desperate for relief that I was willing to try anything. I always slept fine, or so I thought. During the study, I had an AHI of 56, and my O2 dropped into the 70s. When the sl...

Re: Poll - Which OSA treatment would you try?
Some that lose weight can use a lower pressure. But not always. I lost thirty-five pounds last year, and am in a good weight range for me. I started at a pressure of 11, and it increased--it is now 14. I have an APAP, and I let it do its thing, my AHI is generally around .5, so I am doing well. My s...

Re: How does prednisone effect sleep?
I too am on and off prednisone for RA and it makes it really hard for me to sleep. I usually am on a low dose--5-10mgs a day. I get very wired and people at work can tell when I am taking it--they say I talk much faster! At night it makes it hard for me to be still or to sleep. Some nights like this...

Re: OT: Teens and Cell Phones
Our daughters got cell phones around their junior year of HS. They are two years apart in age--each had to wait until their junior year--I was the mean Mom that made them wait. Each was getting ready to do their senior year through a special program at a nearby college and would be driving back and ...

Re: OT Historic Snow in Atlanta!
We are 40 minutes north of Atlanta--no one can even get out of the subdivision yet. We had 6 inches of snow and ice on top of that. The main road usually gets sanded/salted but has not so far. People make fun of us in the south running to the store at the first flake of snow, but once you have lived...

Re: C-Flex is disabled on my machine
I do not have that machine, but the older M Series, and yes, the C flex can be disabled from the clinical menu. Also the ramp could be set to 0 or maybe "off"--can't remember which this early in the morning, so I am sure there is something similiar for your machine.

Re: Voice problems revisited
Do you use any type of inhaled asthma meds? These can irritate the vocal cords. Also, again the suggestion of LPRD--I was staying constantly hoarse and I present to groups of 100 plus every day for a living, which is not a good combination. A trip to the ENT and a laryngoscopy showed erosions on my ...

Re: High pitched noise suddenly is occuring with Remstar M auto
Wouldn't the original prescription still be good online--such as our host site or CPAPAuction? The reason I ask is because I bought a brand new 0 hour Remstar Auto with Aflex, including the humidifer for $200.00. It is a beautiful machine and it wanted the M series because I have the Encore software...

Re: It IS possible to find the perfect mask
Yes, it is certainly trial and error. I started out with ComfortGel nasal masks and they were fine. Then I tried several FFMs and they were all horrible. I switched to a Resmed SoftGel nasal mask in May, and oh, my, what a difference! I do have to tape my lips together, but this is definitely workin...

Re: Down Syndrome and OSA, what to do?
Thank you for posting those links--I had never thought about those with DS being anatomically predisposed for OSA. Also, your question makes me think of other situations where CPAP may be harder to use and get good compliance, such as mental illnesses, loss of brain function due to illness or stroke...

Re: does mouth breathing effect show up in data?
Also, if you are breathing through your mouth, having a dry mouth can lead to dental problems. If you are taking any medications, you may want to check them, as some cause dry mouth as a side effect. Just some things to think about.

Re: Stupid Health Care Providers
Is your mouth falling open because you are relaxing, or is the air just blowing through your lips with your jaw shut? My mouth stays closed, but the air leaks through my lips, so I mostly use tape because it works for me, BUT you might try polygrip denture adhesive on your lips to stick them togethe...

Re: Only lasted 2 hours last night
You might try listening to music with earbuds or headphones. I have issues with pain keeping me awake and my doctor suggested this--it does help. Also CDs made for relaxation can be useful.

Re: REMstar Double-Beep Alarm
I bought/won a brand new M series Auto with A flex on CPAPAuction in September for $200. ZERO hours. Humidifier, manuals, filters, hoses, everything included; a beautiful machine! I wanted an M series because I already have an M Series CPAP and the software to go with it, and figured they will be ha...
