Re: Mask making nose peal on each side...

A Bi Level machine helped to end a problem like you are describing for me, a lot. Before that I took Prilosec (and there are later drugs which some say are better.) Also Gaviscon can help a good bit. Have you tried Simethicone? Neither Prilosec or Gaviscon are really inexpensive. The problem with go...

Re: My Dr said I could do a HOME SLEEP STUDY

I did a study in an overnight lab where they wanted me to sleep for four hours without pressure. I had severe chest pain. I should have taken the lab techs offer to call me an ambulance to take me to the ER for cardiac problems. This, "Verifying the need for Sleep Apnea equipment" is dumbass policy ...

Re: Newly diagnosed-- what to expect?

Might be possible to get off medication or reduce it. Actually depends on your experience in real life. Please realize I do not know what the medication is, or what your are taking it for. Also guessing you are thinking that the medication makes it easier to sleep, and perhaps helps to make you less...

Re: Has Your Insurance Paid for a CPAP purchased at CPAP,com?

In theory, a DME is supposed to be there, helping you with advice, helping to select masks with knowledge that they have accumulated. OK, a lot of DME's don't do that. Insurance companies usually require that you use a DME. Keep in mind that about fifty percent of those people who get to the point o...

Re: Getting my first CPAP - any advice?

Try to tie the hose onto something solid, Like on the headboard, so you can not pull the machine off onto the floor.

Worry about keeping leaks under control, and using the machine. Do not worry about much else for awhile.

Re: Newly diagnosed-- what to expect?

Maryland CPAPer is accurate. Two years ago, while meeting with my Cardiologist, I was speaking with his nurse. The nurse said, "that since she started working in Cardiology, she had discovered the importance of Sleep Apnea treatment. Many heart patients needed sleep apnea treatment. Those who did no...

Re: Apnea, Gerd, PPIs and Heart Arrhythmias

I had a lot of GERD, and Aerophagia. I got rid of most of both by using a Bi Level machine. Have you tried to max out the Flex on your machine? Let me say this differently: I wish I had gotten a Bi Level machine long before I did. It has made much of my treatment much better, far more comfortable. I...

Re: Newly diagnosed-- what to expect?

Some folks have apprehension about will they feel suffocated. Not unusual. After getting the right pressure, I do not think anyone complains about feeling suffocated. To the contrary, they feel like they can breathe better than they ever before. Emotionally, It can help to turn the machine on before...

Re: TMJ and Full Face Masks

For relief of pain during the day, one can take the first two fingers, and massage in small circles the TMJ joint itself. Helps more than one can guess. I suspect the problem may be related to higher pressures. This is one of the painful things I got rid of when I went on a Bi Level machine.

The mask of the Last Resort, and you are probably not at the last resort yet. FitLife Total Face mask. Sheriff Buford has a list of little hints to try to help make it more comfortable, usable. I would say to use a mask liner, like the ones which are provided by padacheek.com, only one satisfied cus...

Re: Calling Sleepyhead Gurus- ResMed SD Card Backup

All of the Sleep doctors I have ever seen, wanted detailed data. What compliance data he gets, he only does because it is part of his getting paid, which is part of his continuing to be in business. Nearly always Sleep Doctors said they would stay and talk to me as long as I had questions.

Re: Mask Liner for FitLife Total Face Mask

For the FitLife, make sure you do not block the intentional leak areas, which includes all around the nozzle. This is how the excess CO2 leaves the underside of the mask. I guess I do not need to tell you what happens if the CO2 builds up.

Re: Racing heart while using CPAP

What are your pressures. First thing I always think of on this board is that their doc set a machine to wide open, 4 to 20 auto. Which means the pressures can easily be too low in the early parts of the night. That sense of suffocation would give me a panic attack.
