Re: Ever wondered about "mask fit"?
Someone asked me "what pressure does mask fit use on an autoset, your max setting?" and I had no answer No they never asked, that simply didn't happen and you know it. And even if they did since when have you ever NOT had an answer? you would have at least called them stupid interesting, maybe? Um ...

Re: Cleaning question
Please don't tell me how stupid I may be! I am desperate with back pain and chiro said I must sleep on my back. Problem is I tend to wake up choking on my back. My husband told me to use his old clap machine he takes on trips. He is not the cleanest person. He leaves water in it. I changed out all ...

Re: Need help picking a new machine!
3) Turn off the bells and whistles i.e ramp and EPR unless absolutely necessary. Why? Starting with basic therapy and gradually adding changes to see what works over time works best for most. Throwing in all unnecessary variables from the get go can cause confusion and delay. Making a single change...

Re: Need help picking a new machine!
1) Where do we get the software? 2) Will a 6 to 20 range work as a good starting range? It is his RX range. But the Dr wasn't all that familiar with auto vs straight CPAP, do left the range rather open. 1) see my sig. 2) that's an acceptable starting range, but pull the data after a day or two, and...

Re: Is EPR best avoided?
but, yes , a cpap with EPR at 3 provides the same therapy as a vpap auto at pressure support of 3 Thats all that was required. It should never hurt to ask a question, this is a place for learning is it not? Also from our hosts web site cpap.com ... So, if EPR reduces the expiratory pressure by a co...

Re: Is EPR best avoided?
Can a CPAP with an EPR at 3 provide the same therapy as a Bilevel machine at a similar setting at more than twice the cost?

Re: Is EPR best avoided?
It's a little more complex than that, depending on the nature, type, and cause of the Sleep Disordered Breathing and type of machine one has. Generally speaking I was just referring to my own situation (words such as "I" and "my" etc) basic obstructive sleep apnea with prescribed CPAP. Good for you...

Re: Is EPR best avoided?
EPR is a comfort feature. Not all xPAP machines even have it. I've would personally question my doctor if he wrote out an Rx with an EPR setting unless he could specifically explain to me why I needed one following a titration study. People here on the forums will will be telling you what to do wit...

Re: Is EPR best avoided?
if you're feeling good with an AHI of 5 be content with that. I'd agree, except I'd say "2". of course, not everybody is the same, but I feel about the same if my AHI is under around 2, and worse if it's higher. 5 - Good 2 - better 0 - best its your choice. Said no one on this forum "I feel crap at...

You old timers I'm not an old timer, I never claimed to be, I'm simply attempting to pass on a bit of advice (no graphs required) based on my own experience on this wonderful forum. Old timers or training wheels, whatever, you take what you need and leave what you don't right? I say more power to y...

Re: Is EPR best avoided?
Getting off ramp and EPR is a sign of xPAP therapy maturity without having to juggle around with your pressure Your opinion of which you are certainly entitled to share and have but it isn't my opinion. Those of you who have this sort of opinion and compare anything related to "comfort" as being si...
