Re: Quick Question... is this TRUE??

They were surprisingly honest with you when they told you the machines are billed under the same codes and they don't want to give you a machine that you can be involved with. That's not praise- it means they think you're an idiot. They can not override the specifics of the prescription. The RTs can...

Re: Quick Question... is this TRUE??

They are wrong. And if they don't know that an APAP titrates up and down they can't even be familiar with Encore Pro- the graphs clearly show pressure going up and down. Even amateur me can look at it and say "I snored... There was an obstructive event, and my pressure went up, then it went down. I ...

Re: CPAP toxic off-gas

Do the chemicals release from the masks over time? I'm wondering if you could get a replacement mask early and let it "air out" for a month before using it? I am sympathetic- I work in healthcare and developed a latex allergy years ago. I used to have to sign out boxes if my "special" gloves from em...

Re: Snoring Question

Brenda, you're either psychic or just a wise woman. I'm still stuffy and sick, and it's only been one night on Autopap, but my average was 13.7. It's weird- I seem to have "sweet spots" with good results at 13 and 15, but crappy numbers at 14. I slept straight through and feel pretty good, even thou...

Re: Help Issues

Others here are far more expert than I am, so I'll leave the details to them to explain. But I can be a cheerleader- the same thing happened to me. It lasted about 2 weeks, and being a nurse I had all sorts of wild ideas about what could have been going on. But I knew my OSA was bad and stuck it out...

Re: Snoring Question

Thanks. I decided to (finally) go whole hog and give autopap a try. I was on: CPAP 13 (previously 15, I dropped myself to 13 about 6 weeks ago) Ramp off Cflex 3 I just set myself up for: Mode Auto Autoramp 12 Cflex 3 Auto Max 15 Auto Min 12 Auto Ramp 5 min Split Night Time Off I went with a start of...

Snoring Question

After reading the chin strap thread, I have a question about snoring. How bad is it, do you think? I'm feeling pretty good even though I'm sick, but my snores are averaging around 40/hour. Higher on nights when I was trying to find a mask that worked with being sick, much lower on nights when I'm no...

Re: Attn: All Chin strap users

I went through several chin straps. My DME knew that and never offered any help- it never occurred to me that they could have provided some. I was given the white ace bandage type thing when I started. It slid all over my head and I hated it. Plus I have a toddler and need to keep my ears open for b...

Re: Woo hoo- yay for CPAP!

My doc was even more impressed because I've had to take decongestants the last couple days and I was still lower. I'm 6 months into PAP therapy, but I've been working on getting more hours of sleep. I think the 1 hour more sleep (and CPAP) per night really made the difference. I've had borderline hi...

Woo hoo- yay for CPAP!

Just back from my primary doc. I have an ear infection, but I got great news too! My blood pressure is down 30 points since I started CPAP. Which means I was 126/62 on no BP meds. (I stopped taking it a couple days ago because I wasn't sure if I was sick or having a side effect of the meds.) I no lo...

Re: Just back from Sleep Doc- Rozerem?????

Xanax is an anxiety drug, a cousin of Valium. Sedation is a side effect, not an intended use. And it makes for a pretty crappy sleep med- problems with tolerance and withdrawal. If you're just taking a little to sleep sometimes you're probably ok, but I've seen Xanax DT's that were as bad as crystal...

Re: Are you touchy about who touches your machine?

Of the 2 people who have access to my machine, 1 (DH) doesn't want to touch it. He knows what it does, that tilting it is bad for the electronics because of the humidifier, and knows I know a lot more about it than he does. He could move it if he needed to, he wouldn't be afraid to touch it, he just ...

Re: Curiosity Thread starting again Where do you live?

Born and raised in Melrose Ma. Moved to NH where I stayed 35 years. As of 2007. Mow I am in Lakeland Fl. I love it here and am enjoying the warm sun. No matter where in this world I hang my hat Melrose will always be home. Laura I lived in Melrose until I was 5- on Laurel Ave or Laurel Street, I be...
