Re: cleaning or sanitizing humidifier
Hi all! There are over 2,000 post on cleaning or sanitizing your humidifier. After about 20 mts. of trying to read the tiny type my eyes are crossed! I'm looking for the definitive post or thread on cleaning or sanitizing a humidifier, if anyone can suggest one or two, that would be great! I have b...

Re: cm H2O is Displacement, Not Pressure
As a man of physics I would like to say that cm H2O are rather counter-intuitive units for pressure. In fact, any physics textbook worth its weight in working cpap parts will define pressure as force per unit area. Cm H2O is a displacement of water given a particular pressure (the actual pressure c...

Re: Let's clear up some misinformation
Go do all of this and then you can talk to me about "doing for your country". I served my country in the RVN (a war which JFK perpetuated, if not initiated) where my wife's cousin was KIA. You're an idiot. I echo DeltaDave's sentiments. I also served my country in Viet Nam. And have helped in a sou...

Re: How often do you replace nasal pillows on your mask?
Have you tried boiling the pillows? I have the Swift FX and they start to leak every 2-3 weeks. I found out about boiling them on this forum. Just boil a pot of water, dump in some baking soda, and drop the pillows in for around 30 minutes. Then rinse off with cold water. They seal like new after t...

Re: Let's clear up some misinformation
LTTS has made it crystal clear that insurance only pays a DME for a brick. No, not at all. What she has made clear is that the DMEs want to only sell us a brick. The insurance company reimburses the DME for a "deluxe" machine (it's the same code as the basic machine), but the DME wants to foist a b...

Re: Let's clear up some misinformation
I have resisted getting in this discussion but no one seems to have noticed this statement which he has quoted several times. a business that is mandated to provide service 24/7/365. Yes, even on Christmas, and even at 2 AM every day of the year if they provide PAP devices or other respiratory prod...

Re: Let's clear up some misinformation
So, LTTS, does this mean that every time a doc prescribes an AutoPAP and the DME fills the prescription, the system is such that the DME loses money because insurance will only pay for a brick? Maybe I'm missing something here... but... the DME has to fill the script exactly as the doctor wrote it,...

Re: Optilife pillows/cradle vs. Swift FX pillows mask
From my experience, the way to improve on the comfort and seal of the OptiLife is to give it back to the DME or throw it in a drawer and use the Swift FX. I found the OptiLife to be far less stable than the Swift Fx. More leaks and more shifting around on the face. It's possible to do some lab ratti...

Re: mirage FX
I found the Mirage Micro too stiff, rocking on my cheekbones. How does the Fx compare? The Mirage FX is pretty comfortable. The cushion inflates to hold the mask nicely off the face and is nice and soft on the nose bridge. The Mirage Micro is the opposite - digs into the nose bridge and face. I onl...

Re: mirage FX
Mirage FX isn't bad. I got one as a freebie from my DME in return for testing the thing for a couple of weeks and writing a review. Of the nasal masks I've tried, I like this one the best.

Greg, To learn the lingo, and a whole lot more, click on the yellow light bulb at the top of the page. Then read, read, read. There is a lot to learn, and you're getting the view from the patient end of the hose. Nasal pillows are really not cannulas, the pillows only touch the openings of your nare...

Lucky you! No such effect for me. Viagra, its cousins, testosterone - no help. I do miss the days when I could always rise to the occasion.Beatlejoose wrote:My nightly sleeps have been more restorative than anticipated.
