Re: Is my machine wearing out?
Just got some welcome news re: insurance. Although my benefits are being reduced and my premium increased (our company has been acquired by another, you know how that goes), it seems that the new insurance is accepted by the DME I would prefer to use, which was not covered under my old insurance. I ...

Re: Is my machine wearing out?
Just hoped someone might have experienced this and be able to say "Oh yeah, just unplug it, turn around three times, say abracadabra, and you'll be fine Or maybe "yes, that's what my machine started doing just before it quit altogether" to help me establish the urgency. My equipment still didn't po...

Re: Is my machine wearing out?
Thanks for the tips on adding equipment to comments; I've done it. I don't have software for my machine (it was discontinued before I got my hands on it), but I do track my results every day (getting the numbers from the machine), and I haven't seen any significant change in AHI or leaks from day to...

Re: Is my machine wearing out?
You registered on this site in 2009...you still haven't supplied us with your equipment? It would be easier to help you and answer your questions if we knew the details. YOu could always take the unit to your DME to be checked out. Actually, I have, since 2009. It seems my sig line didn't append to...

Re: lose-weight-before-trying-cpap-sleep-apnea-treatments
Quote from the Medscape article I just posted about this morning (emphasis mine): "Although weight is an important feature of OSA, overreliance on the body mass index (BMI) can lead to missed diagnoses in some patients. OSA occurs in nonobese patients, including those with normal BMIs. Being overwei...

Is my machine wearing out?
This is going to sound silly, but I'm trying to troubleshoot what's going on with my CPAP machine and not even sure where to start. For the last month or so, I've had daytime sleepiness that was similar to (but not as severe as) what I had before I began treatment. This morning, I woke up with the h...

Medscape series on OSA
Medscape just released a series of reports on OSA including new recommendations for treatment of sleep apnea and obesity, first- and second-line therapies, and comorbidities, such as Afib, ocular manifestations, erectile dysfunction (who knew!), and chronic pain. You have to register to use their we...

Re: Newly diagnosed and need advice
What price do you put on sleep and prolonging your life? That's the attitude! My insurance isn't covering my treatment so I am having to pay out of pocket, so there's you answer. Unfortunately the cost is coming out my pocket too....but I view it as an investment...the per might cost over the machi...

Re: Got new masks to try
PS: Thanks for the info on the bite splints, etc. I've used both a bruxism guard and a TMJ splint after an accident dislocated my jaw (well, I guess that's never the kind of thing you do deliberately, is it? ), so I thought maybe my quick accommodation to the Tap Pap was because I was already accust...

Re: Got new masks to try
From where are y'all buying this TAP PAP mask? Online? Yup. https://www.cpap.com/productpage/tap-pap-nasal-pillow-cpap-mask.html It's very new so not very likely to be in stock at a local DME, though they can probably order it. Some DME's are willing to do so, some not, and some will do so but tell...

Re: Got new masks to try
So went with the Tap Pap last night. Initial impressions are: VERY easy to do the boil and fit process Surprisingly easy to fit, though I am not sure I used the best pillow size. But regardless, the alignment, etc is by far the easiest I have ever used. No problems with hose management. I did have ...

Re: Lansenoh
That's what I came to believe, but it is not so. It's just hard to spot. Almost all Walgreens have it. In the one I found it in I had missed it because it was on the bottom shelf near the feminine supplies. Two counts against spotting it there, for me at least! That's exactly where I found it at my...

Re: New TAP PAP mask review
I'm two nights in and liking it a lot so far. I don't have a lot to add to what others have said except to comment that it's surprisingly stable. The hose attaches in such a way that it pulls on the mouthpiece and not the pillows, and since the mouthpiece is firmly held in my mouth, it doesn't move....

All right, I'm in! Just placed my order. I sure love mask insurance -- especially when it's included at no additional charge.

Re: Dry eyes!
I've suffered with dry eyes for a long time now. However, I think my eyes may be a bit drier now with cpap, though I don't think I'm getting a lot of leaks around the eyes...? I did have flaky skin on my eyelid this morning and that never happened prior to cpap. Eyedrops I use currently are OTC all...
