Re: Cpap Newbie!

No worse than the OSA you had before you used the mask. You will wake up struggling for breath or open your mouth to breath if you are using a nasal mask.

Re: Am i supposed to GAIN weight on cpap or lose it?

below is a link to a story from '06 about the top ten NON exercise and nutrition causes of obesity. Number 1 was sleep deprivation. So there is an argument that if all other factors are constant, cpap should lead to weight loss. http://www.npr.org/templates/story/story.php?storyId=5546074 That argu...

Re: Am i supposed to GAIN weight on cpap or lose it?

I gained 9 pounds in 5 Weeks I don't know what the deal is? I don't think I eat anymore than before. Luckily the Grass is starting to grow and I will be Mowing my Lawn and my Aunt's lawn every week. I will load up on the fertilizer this year that way the grass will grow quicker and I will have to m...

Re: Reversing the damage.

Good post carbonman. Though I am not the rider you are nor do I have the scenic rides you have I have been on my CPAP since January 2, 2009. I, too, have noticed a big difference in my rides and especially the quick recovery for riding the next day. I am so looking forward to walking 18 holes of gol...

No doubt. If the RT did not help I was going to get some medicated help. I am monitoring it and it appears the RT is really helping. Thanks for the concern.

Checked my BP this morning....

Up until I began my RT using my CPAP beginning on 1/2/09 my morning blood pressure was as high first thing in the morning as it was throughout the day. My BP had been recorded on average of 160/110. No medication. So, I thought I would check it this morning after being on RT for over a month now. Ne...

Re: Attn Newbies: your brain may be fried.....

My apnea became apparent to me about a 1 year ago when I began to pack on the weight. I went quickly from 220 to 260. I had the same symptoms beginning to appear as many of you have described. I tossed and turned all night fighting to fall sleep. My only sleeping position that was anywhere near sati...

^^ So that means if my HI is less than 2 then both my AI and HI are zero. My AI is consistently around 0.0 and the AHI is around 1.4 on average.

Re: Hello from a newbie

Welcome MoneyGal. I think anyone in the financial arena would be stressed about now. 95 per hour is high. Mine was 54 and they interrupted my study at 12:30AM to put me on the CPAP. It will be a full month on 2/2/09 for me and I have been 100% compliant in its use. My first morning to wake up after ...

If you have the Hi humidifier attached and the top clear lid is not snapped shut it will give you those same on and off starts. Make sure the lid actually snaps closed. Just a guess. It happend to be.

Re: New CPAP user here...

Hello everyone. I've been diagnosed with mild OSA and am using CPAP on a trial basis. I've only been using my machine for less than a week and I already have a sore spot on the bridge of my nose . I'm working on playing with the straps to try to find a balance between comfort & leaks. As you can se...
