Re: Hose management devices: worthwhile or worthless?
Oh, absolutely worth it! Hubby made ours at home based on "plans" I gave him. We've used a plant hanger that swivels attached to a piece of wood screwed to the headboard. From the end of the hanger I've attached a caribinari hook with a hair scrunchie on it. Run the hose through the scrunchie. We us...

Re: Rule/LAW that says DMEs can't deliver supplies automatically
It would be nice if hubby's and my masks and headgear will last for a year or more....but they do not. I can get maybe 90 days out of one nasal pillow. Hubby becomes leak central if he does not replace his mask at least once every 2 months and he cleans his mask regularly. Headgear we get when it is...

Re: Newbie would like to hear success stories, please.
Success stories, eh? Hubby and I have just "celebrated" our 5th anniversaries on CPAP. We don't (really can't) sleep without them. Seriously. We've tried after arriving at a destination so late/early that we were too pooped to take the few minutes and set the machines up....and then got back up with...

Re: Night Terrors Explained
My son had night terrors, and they were terrifying for his dad and I. He actually had 2 "rounds" of them, the first when he was between 2 and 3 1/2, the second round he was about 5 or 6. The first round, he would sit bolt upright in bed and scream, then cry (heartwrenching sobs) for about 10 minutes...

Re: Do you wake up feeling refreshed?
I'm not sure what "refreshed" is to me...but.... For most of my life, morning was NOT something I was good at. Would have two alarm clocks, because waking up was just so darn hard. If left to my own devices, I would wake up "on my own" generally somewhere between 10:00 am and noon. That was IF I got...

Re: POLL Adjusting to Therapy
My experience was likely similar to many, namely: (e) I discovered through the members of this board that I could comfortably wear my hosehead gear while I have a cold (it's just about gone guys!), I found that I now get fewer colds also....but had a pretty bad bout of a broncho-pneumonia last fall...

Re: AI vs. HI
I'd say that is excellent. I think the setting at 20 should be lower, but others in here that have more APAP experience will explain that better than I can. Having an AHI of under 5 is the theraputic goal, and you seem to have hit that pretty quickly.

Re: Need suggestion for cheap second machine..
ooo, good point....yes, I do use the EPR. For going to son's house, it will be frequent enough that I don't want to be bothered breaking down the home machine 2 or 3 times month for a couple of nights, when I can just keep one at their place in the spare room. When travelling to the other son's hous...

Re: Which machine would you go buy?
I've not had an APAP, just CPAP, but have had both Resmed S8 and Respironics CPAP machines. I would go with the Resmed just for the larger humidifier...

Re: Need Help Understanding The Results from my Machine
rosacer, you mentioned that weight may be part of your issue, and while I can't say for sure for you, I KNOW it is the issue causing my remaining lack of energy..I am so out of shape, my body has to struggle sometimes to catch my breath with minimal exertion. As I've started exercising, that has hel...

Re: Picking Out CPAP Machine Tmrw
I went through about 6 masks before I finally found one that I loved, and it was the one the RT at my DME tried to get me to use first....I was just so paranoid about having the thing on my face....and was absolutely NOT going to use nasal pillows, the idea was just horrible to me.....then I tried t...

Re: ResMed's new Swift FX?
My new DME has one of these on order for me. I use the LT for Her, and love it, this looks like it will feel even "less" like anything is on my face. I just wish they would figure out how to vent the things in some direction other than straight ahead, makes it difficult to sleep facing hubby.....I h...

Need suggestion for cheap second machine..
Hi, I am looking for suggestions for a cheap second machine. This one will be kept at my son's house (they just had their first baby) for when I go to visit (monthly at least). Rather than break down my Resmed Elite II every trip, I think I'm just going to by a second machine to keep at their house....

Re: Newbie would like to hear success stories, please.
I've been off the board for a while now, it's been a busy year. Hubby and I are now both officially over our first year on CPAP and will not go without it voluntarily. I hit my first year in December, hubby at the end of January. While I took to it like a duck to water, hubby had problems getting us...
