Re: Question About BackSleeping and MaskPressure

I did not have success with higher pressures & found it kept me far more awake than apneas. The other problems that I had with higher pressure is the extreme tightness of the mask which I found hard to get used to & painful. Not only that, but it stretches the headgear so much that it stretches out ...

Re: Apnea, no insurance, need advice

Before you buy anything or even get a sleeping study done, I'd suggest that you video record your sleep for as many nights as you can and SEE exactly what you are or are not doing. Otherwise, without a sleep study (and even after one) you are just guessing at your situation of apneas vs. symptoms, ...

Re: Dental Device

I use a dental device (Klearway) with my PAP therapy. However, I no longer use it to pull my jaw forward but only to help keep my jaw closed / mouth shut, as I found this to be FAR FAR more hlep than the useless, painful and long term damaging jaw advancement. At this point, I may also be using it f...

Re: Oral Appliances More Effective in Positional Sleep Apnea

Didn't and doesn't work for me whatsoever. Apparently I was also deemed an "ideal" candidate for an oral appliance for my "mild" OSA, which is greatly positional. I still need & benefit only from PAP therapy & I force myself to side sleep. With only a dental device, a friggin' $2600+ piece of crap a...

Re: Poll re: Sleeping Supine

I MUST sleep on my side or I have events. I use ny own restraints & foam pillow design to accomplish this. it" THAT CRITICAL to my rest & AHI scores. What I've also discovered is that one's body may be on it's side, but the head has turned to the supine position and so apneas or events occur. So one...

Re: Bridge of nose problem

A search of this forum produces many threads and solutions. A search of the Wiki / Newbie Info produces these options. http://www.cpaptalk.com/wiki/index.php/Pain_on_the_Bridge_of_the_Nose I've been happily using this tape every night as a solution to the problem & have next to zero marks or sores o...

Re: No Improvement - Five Months Later

Do you have access to a web cam / laptop or a digital video camera? If so, I'd suggest that you record yourself sleeping for a few nights and watch the videos to see what you are doing. Some digital video cameras and baby monitor surveillance cameras have very good night vision and are inexpensive. ...

Re: Dental Care Sleep Apnea Solution

Yes, I will keep you informed. I never had any faith in dental devices either, until the consultation session with this young, enthusiasitc, and energetic dentist, who is obviously on top of the latest treatments for OSA. This will be a customized device for my particular jaw structure. The adjustm...

Re: Dental Care Sleep Apnea Solution

I doubt that it will work for you or many others based on my own experience with a very reputable, researched, studied, expensive and custom fit device called the Klearway. Sorry but these devices just can't open the airway enough nor defeat gravity, compared to CPAP air pressure. Besides the tongue...

Re: Sore and Red Bridge of nose

I've been happily using 3M surgical tape with my Quattro mask. I use a 1/2 inch or so wide strip that I tear off the roll, place it on the bridge of my nose & then put on my mask. This one strip can be reused for 2-4 nights before it gets too gummy on both sides. One night last week I forgot to put ...

Re: Have had machine 2 nights--ugh! No love lost here.

It's too early in your PAP experience to draw any conclusions on just about anything except the lack of data capability of your machine. To "help" monitor your therapy, software data REALLY helps. However, there are MANY OTHER VARIABLES and they often change as well, so good PAP therapy, especially ...

Re: sometimes CPAP is not enough?

Have go a data capable machine? Do you know you AHI, leak rate? Do you mouth breathe? These are the first things to check. Ditto the above, but FIRST check to see if you sleep on your back and have events while doing so? If you do, then try to sleep on your side, or increase the pressure when on yo...

Re: HELP!! I'm about to stop therapy

I read through this thread but did not see that you answered Wulfman's question, which he asked twice .... which is: "What is your sleeping position during apneas?" I'd suggest that you address this question ASAP and see if your events recorded in your software occur when you are sleeping on your ba...

Re: Newbie VERY disappointed in CPAP

Before you give up, (not sure why you'd want to so soon anyway), you have to figure out (yourself) WHY your results are not so great. For one thing, you're unconcious (more or less)when the problems are occurring, so you and we are all just guessing as to why you may not be feeling better yet. My pe...

Re: oral appliance in conjunction with cpap

I use an oral appliance in conjunction with my APAP with no real problems. Basically to me, it helps keep my mouth from dropping open and that's about it, but that can and does cause events for me, so I wear it. I don't know anything about BiPap, so I can't guess if your pressure is adequate, but I'...
