Re: we all could have died - no kidding
I gave a C0 detector to sister-in-law. It woke them in the middle of the night. Her husband reset it and it went off again. They went to mom-in-law's house at 2AM to finish the night. The wood burning furnace had broke a chimney pipe and they did at least have a warning of a deadly situation. So C0 ...

Re: x-DME calls me today
Carol I have really wonderful insurance and if the machine is "medically needed" they will pay for it. They would have paid for it in Dec. 2008 when I got it. I just assumed they had paid for it. Thanks for your input. I was totally floored when they called me yesterday.

Re: x-DME calls me today
Wow, I thought I had post a reply to sleepycarol, it got lost somewhere. First machine was a fisher-paykel 600. It is in my closet. Insurance did pay for it on a rent then own plan. They never billed for first S-8 according to insurance. I called them once in January of 2009 because they wanted the ...

x-DME calls me today
I started cpap in 4/2008. The first DME was picked after second sleep study without me knowing anything about anything. I got basic machine and went on to try and find to a mask that would work. In November 2008 feeling worse than at the beginning I found cpaptalk and started learning about sleep ap...

Re: Quattro FX -- Please post feedback on it
I picked up Quattro FX Thursday. I fought with leaks all night, had a leak rate of over .90, AHI at 11 and felt lousy all day. Looked at all of the book, took nap, adjusted straps and later that went to bed. My fiance woke me up and asked that I change masks. I was talking in my sleep, snoring, and ...

Re: Broke my compliance by pulling an all nighter
If you didn't sleep, you didn't break compliance. I recently had a day that started at 5:30am and because of vehicle breakdown did not end till I got home at 5am. I could not have done this how I was before CPAP. I slept 4 hours and got up to check on my mother and stayed up until bedtime that night...

Re: Recliner sleeping
When I was struggling with my therapy I would sleep in recliner. I don't have one at my house right now, but if I did I would set it up with extra machine. I would still have problems when I was sitting up in chair so I don't think it helped me not have apneas and I didn't have a data machine so I d...

Re: What does your insurance allow/pay for CPAP and gear?
My insurance covers 100%. I also was covered 100% for both sleep studies. I can get new supplies when I need them not on a fixed schedule. I respect my great insurance by only getting supplies when I need them and I count my blessings every time they send out a benefit statement.

Re: Swift FX
I tried this fix this afternoon for a nap. I haven't liked the FX flexy hose from the first night. I pull on it when I turn over. Here is a fast picture of what I did. http://i591.photobucket.com/albums/ss360/ladyflyfisher/mail.jpg Just like what I think Steve said. I used velcro straps that people ...

Re: My Swift LT is starting to bug me
The elastic straps held the LT in the right place. I wore a Swift LT for over a year. I would switch now and then to my Activa. I have had the FX for over a month and have the Activa and old Swift put up. I hope FX continues to be a "good" mask, but if I had to, I'd go back to a LT before using FF o...

Re: My Swift LT is starting to bug me
I found an elastic band around the back of my swift lt kept it from riding up. Search on lab rat fixes. It is listed under the swift lt.

Re: Does Resmed leak rate mouth leaks?
If you are opening your mouth the leak rate will be higher. A Resmed machine will be able compensate up to about .35 but the lower you can get your leak rate the better therapy. Also you should have your mask listed in the Resmed machine so it knows. Any mask that is not listed on menu is put down a...

I've had a lot of problems with the inverted pillow thing. I have them invert while I was wearing it. For me when one of the pillows inverts I get lots of leaks.

Re: I HATE that feeling of water up my nose!
I made a cover for the small hose. I used embroidery thread to tie the ends so it would not move on the hose and the vent stayed clear. There were some nights that I still had small drops of water, but they never ending up being snorted in the middle of the night so I was happy. I wasn't comfortable...
