Sleep Apnea and PACU recovery time

I attended a conference where they talked about the impact sleep apnea have on patients post surgery recovery time. It was a small unfunded study of 300 patients. All the patients were 40 years or older. They used a questionaire before the surgery which asked simple questions like do you snore, do y...

Maybe the DME needs to go back to school

My text books say the following:"Now, client education has moved beyond the telling the client what to do. Instead, clients and their families are at the head of the health care team, working collaboratively with healthcare professionals to learn and to assisst in achieving their own healthcare goal...

I live in Utah. I wouldn't be surprised if other states followed through with a similar form. I have decided to follow the advice of my fellow c-papers. Since my sleep apnea is being treated, I'm 100% compliant, I will answer no to the question, because I do not have a condition that causes abnormal...

Thanks for the encouragement. Yes I monitor my condition with the software, and my AHI is usually between 0-1.5. Treatment has been great for me. I am leaning towards answering no. I just think it is an invalid question. It should rather read. Do you suffer from UNTREATED sleep apnea or narcolepsy. ...

Intrusive Questions from the Government

I just got my drivers license renewal application in the mail, and one of their questions is: Do you have a condition that produces abnormal sleepiness (Sleep apnea, narcolepsy, etc)? I don't think it is any of their business, especially since I am treating the sleep apnea. I do not wish to answer y...

My numbers are up

My AHI has gone up with the hybrid, and I think I know why. With my ComfortCurve I usually sleep on my side and burrow my head into the pillow, and pretty much stay that way throughout the night. With the hybrid I find that I end up sleeping on my back, and that is probably why my AHI has gone up. I...

My AHI went from 1.1 to 4.8 after switching to the hybrid

I just received the new hybrid and started using it. My average AHI before the hybrid has been around 1.1, with 2-3 apneas and the rest of them hypopneas. After using the hybrid for 2 days, myencore reports AHI 4.8 events/hr Total obstructive apneas 6 Total hypopneas 42 Total time in apnea 78 second...

Yes, several of us run it under VWMARE in Linux

Here is a link to a thread where we were all discussing it. http://www.cpaptalk.com/viewtopic.php?t=6960&highlight=linux I have a Novell Linux Desktop with vmware 5 running. I powered on a Windows 2000 server under vmware, Installed the software, Installed the Card reader driver, and in vmware I cho...

Don't give up on it yet. It took me a week of trying, failing, getting frustrated, and I finally got it to work for me. I had to put the headgear upside down, so the adjustment clip is the bottom strap for me. I am the one who clipped the small nose piece to make the opening bigger, and that helped ...

I like it

For me it is the most comfortable mask, but it took me many attempts to figure out how to wear it without leaking. Now I can put it on at night, and nail it on the first attempt. Then I sleep great, no leaks. I had to put the straps upside down, I had to change the angle of the cheek pads, I had to ...

I don't like the feel of the forehead piece at all, so I cut a piece of very soft cotton and put on the forehead piece before I put the mask on. That way I have soft cotton touching my forehead, not the uncomfortable/scratchy fabric they have sown to the mask. Even if the large pillows seem to large...

Lori! I think you have the better of the full face masks. I find the Ultra Mirage FF very comfortable. The problem I have with it is it pushes my jaw down, making me snore, and giving me higher AHI. But if it is comfortable for you, you definitely have a winner there. Goofproof! I admire you for hav...
