Re: Would BiPAP be right for me

Don't know how it works there but unless we are going to buy a machine outright, the first machine we will normally be tried on is a CPAP machine and it will be a cheaper one. This is because of the insurance companies and the DME's - machine suppliers. The setting for the CPAP machines a lot of tim...

Re: O2 Levels...How low is too low?

I have been on supplemental oxygen for two years now. This came about originally because my cardiologist said that my SpO2 was running on the low side. He said that anything less than 90, on a continual basis, was unacceptable because the heart would have to work harder and would become enlarged and...

Re: So how does anybody get any sleep around here?

Exactly -- My sleep study showed that I was going for periods in excess of a minute without breathing and that my O2 sat was dropping into the 70's. Given my lung conditions, I have tried and cannot hold my breath for one minute. It's how do I live, much less sleep.

Re: Newbie is failing -- PLEASE HELP!!!

I had an appointment with another sleep doctor this afternoon as I was totally displeased with the one that I had. The new doctor had previously actually treated me for lung problems and is also into sleep disorders. Only drawback is that he is some sixty miles away. Showed him my detailed sleep stu...

Re: Newbie is failing -- PLEASE HELP!!!

Thank you all for your thoughts. Papdad, that was an interesting read about the auto off. I will check that out. My problem is the opposite, though, that the air is rushing in at me when I wake up choking on it. If you stop breathing -- apnea -- then the air cannot get in -- but the XPAP is suppose...

Re: Auction Question

Click on the item on CPAPAuction that you are interested in and it will pull up the page for that item. Scroll down and on the right side is will list the payment options accepted by the seller. Paypal is, I think, by far the fastest and the safest. A Paypal account is not hard to set up but needs t...

Re: Newbie is failing -- PLEASE HELP!!!

What I was refereing to is to turn off the auto-off feature on your machine -- not wheather the machine is set in APAP or CPAP mode. Here is what snoredog wrote on the subject: "I think you need to go through setup on the machine and check all settings. Never rely on someone else to setup your machi...

Re: Newbie is failing -- PLEASE HELP!!!

Turn off auto off on your machine. Do a search on this forum for auto off to learn why and how. Go to https://www.cpap.com and use their online sizing tool for the FF Quattro mask. I found that I was trying to use the wrong size. The correct size for me does not leak. If you have not done so, try us...

Re: A question for doctors/med professionals re HR & SpO2

Would really like to hear a good answer on this also. After watching my O2 levels for a couple of years I have been unable to determine any real correlation between heart rate and O2 level.
