Re: OT: Nurse Jacintha Saldanha

As mentioned before, the nurse who died was the first nurse on the phone. She said very little and simply put the call through to the second nurse who gave all the information. The second nurse did not harm herself. There must have been a lot more going on in the the first nurse's life for her to do...

Well Blackspinner, that's better than nothing if a person is not using any therapy.

Re: Anyone tried provent?

I so agree with you 49er! It would seem many people here are very adverse to new ideas or even people raising the topic of alternatives to CPAP. CPAP is obviously an excellent treatment for some people ... but not everyone and you can't blame people for looking into various options that may be avail...

Re: Anyone tried provent?

Oh, another Canberran ....

I'm really interested in too, finding out about Provent. I think it would be worth trying ... though expensive. With our Aussie dollar, we might be better off having it sent over from the U.S.

Re: Apneas Less ... Without Treatment

Yes, I'd have to say I think they have. Been doing them now for nearly two months, most days. You can google exercises for double-chins and there are some youtubes as well. Things like looking at the ceiling and jutting your chin out ... you can feel the stretch. Making very exaggerated movements wi...

Re: Apneas Less ... Without Treatment

Yes, the first studies were done here in Canberra and the study last week in a hospital in Sydney. Also, the one last week was sent to the Apnex people in America to score and I was told they do score it slightly differently, however, there does seem to be a large discrepancy between the studies. As...

Re: Apneas Less ... Without Treatment

No, I'm aware CPAP isn't a cure, just a nightly treatment. Nothing else is different weight-wise or physically, only the fact that I've been doing neck exercises. I'm just wondering if others have different numbers when having sleep studies a year or two or more apart. During this last study, I felt...

Apneas Less ... Without Treatment

I was diagnosed about four years ago with moderate sleep apnea, 23 per hour. Tried CPAP for two months, then moved on to a mandibular device for several months. A sleep study with the mandibular device showed 15 per hour. Discarded that treatment and have gone untreated for OSA since then. Had a stu...

Re: 12 years on cpap and it's time to move on.

That's exciting, Corky! Do let us know how it goes. I'm back from my trip to Sydney yesterday for a complete medical, about twelve pages of questions and an overnight sleep study. Should hear by next Tuesday if I progress on to the endoscopy stage.

Nor is anyone ... what's your point?

He, correctly, thought some of us may be interested in what he's been through and how he progresses.

Thank you, Corky!
