Re: 12 years on cpap and it's time to move on.

But if there is a reasonable alternative to CPAP, don't you want to know about it???

I agree Nanwilson ... this seems an inappropriate place to be putting such stuff. We're not all in America, we don't all want to see stuff about politics ... we have our own stuff going on here in Australia. And whilst we don't have to read it (and I don't) it does clutter up our list of topics!!

Re: 12 years on cpap and it's time to move on.

I agree Jordy! I don't know why anyone who dares look for an alternative to CPAP gets attacked ... it's a funny attitude to take! I've had it happen to me before when asking about didgeridoos etc. It would seem that those who love their CPAPs LOVE their CPAPs. Good for them but they needn't be so ne...

Re: 12 years on cpap and it's time to move on.

Glad to hear it's going well, Corky. I've spoken to the co-ordinator I'm dealing with and I've passed the first verbal, over-the-phone questions. She said the worse part, where the most pain seems to be, is the tunneling of the lead from the device down the ribs. Otherwise, the few they've done so f...

Why is everyone so damn suspicious about this??? Don't bother answering, I don't actually care. Corky, please keep those of us interested, posted about your progress ... hope it goes really well for you.

Re: 12 years on cpap and it's time to move on.

Hi there Corky. Just want to wish you all the best with the device. I posted on here a few days ago asking if anyone has had any experience with this as I am at the very beginning of being considered for the Apnex stimulator. I think the whole of idea of it is very amazing and I'm hopeful of being a...

Re: Hypoglossal Nerve Stimulation System

VVV, you're right that OSA can be caused by various reasons, narrow airways being one of them. I've been told that part of the selection criteria will be having an endoscopy, probably for that very reason. Mary Z, I will give updates, depending on how far I get. I've been sent 18 pages of informatio...

Re: Hypoglossal Nerve Stimulation System

Thanks for the replies 49er and Mary Z. 49er, if you're happy and doing well with the CPAP then that's great and you probably don't need something more intrusive, at least for now, anyway. Mary, I think that's wonderful that you have the device you have and that it's improved your life. I hope it co...

Re: Hypoglossal Nerve Stimulation System

Why be excited??? Are you kidding??? I'm not so much excited as keenly enthusiastic ... for myself and perhaps my children and grandchildren and your grandchildren! This could be a first step for an alternative to CPAP. Results may not be perfect ... just yet! But as with any new medicine or medical...

Hypoglossal Nerve Stimulation System

Hi, I know this subject has been spoken about previously, however, I was wondering if anyone here has actually taken part in trials? Previous trials have taken place on the Apnex HGNS and they are about to do more trials worldwide with 132 people taking part. Here in Australia twenty-seven people ar...
