Re: Using distilled water vs bottle water, equally as good?

I have found that bottled water that uses the reverse osmosis type of filtration is the closest thing to distilled water that I can find on the road. Unflavoured Aquafina works well for this.

Re: Transcend Waterless Humidification, anyone try it?

As much as I love tank humidifaction and heated hose of my F&P 608, using this waterless humidification even for two and a half nights turned me into a believer that the humidification function of this mask actually works! If only it wasn't so noisy! I really hope that Somnetics comes up with a solu...

Re: Transcend Waterless Humidification, anyone try it?

Ok, following up, I bit the bullet and bought the Transcend II CPAP along with the bedside kit for waterless humidification kit with a Resmed DoubleGel cushion for Mirage SoftGel masks. Nope, not going to wear the machine on my head, so don't even go there! I posted reviews for both the machine and ...

Transcend Waterless Humidification, anyone try it?

Just curious if anyone has tried the Transcend waterless humidification kit. How well does it work?

Here's a link to the product: https://www.cpap.com/productpage/transc ... ystem.html

England wrote:Arthurs, I am so glad to hear it works for your UARS! That makes me feel very hopeful! So you said you use the CPAP, not the APAP right? I wonder if I should switch mine to CPAP mode.
Yep, just plain old CPAP worked for me, 8.5 cm. Got a fisher paykel 608 for a good deal on cpapauction.com.

Re: UARS - Has the CPAP or APAP actually worked?

It's worked for me. Diagnosed with UARS a couple years ago, CPAP 8.5 cm H20. When I take a nap without CPAP, I feel like crap afterwards! Can't imagine sleeping without CPAP!

Why don't you have your doctor prescribe you distilled water, go to the pharmacy and have them label a bottle for you?

The person you spoke to is wrong. See this thread:

and the rules that airlines must follow:

in particular 14 CFR Section 382.41

Re: Average Age Sleep Apnea is Diagnosed?

Marc, Wasn't it a pilot who fell asleep on a Go flight that overshot Kona, HI, that was later diagnosed with SA? I believe he continues to fly planes today, and uses a CPAP machine now for his treatment. I can't imagine you not being able to continue doing what you love, while getting the proper tre...

Re: looking for support as apnea significant other

Persistence is key here. Sounds like some further sleep study is needed to get to the bottom of this. Also see if the CPAP machine has some data capability and software available, plenty of help here on understanding the results in addition to what you get from the doctor. Each person is unique in t...

Re: Another dumb surge protector question

Keep in mind the voltage rating of your surge protector when traveling overseas. If it's rated only for 120 Volts, then plugging it into 220/240 Volt receptacle may let the magic smoke out if you know what I mean! You may need to buy a surge protector for higher voltages.

Re: Sleeping on the plane?

Here are the holes in those regulations you quoted regarding CPAP equipment. 1. A CPAP/BiLevel machine IS NOT a Ventilator/Respirator, no matter how hard you argue, they are not. A medical ventilator may be defined as an automatic machine designed to mechanically move breatheable air into and out o...

Re: Sleeping on the plane?

Guest, I don't understand your point, but based on my experience, in seat power is very low on the totem pole in terms of airline maintenance priorities and/or even provision with the current realities of air travel here in North America. If you can get yourself on a new A380, that might be a differ...

Re: Sleeping on the plane?

Gosh, before I knew I had UARS, I'd purposely plan my overseas business flights so that I arrive a day early so that I could stay up and do work or read on the plane, then crash at the destination hotel for 12-15+ hours of sleep! Wouldn't be my choice to do so for a vacation, why chew up a day recov...

Re: Sleeping on the plane?

What FAA regulation requires them to allow you to use it on the plane. I'm simply asking, I haven't seen one, so I would like to actually read the regulation. To prevent you from bringing CPAP on board is a violation of federal aviation regulations and Air Carrier Access act. See 14 CFR Section 382...
