Re: How do you maintain your dignity while using your CPAP?

I remind myself that I look far more dignified in my bed on the hose than I would on the coronor's slab without it. And everything that everyone else said.

Re: Hypothyroidism / Hashimoto's Thyroiditis: Treat or Not?

Thanks for this info, Echo. I recently learned that I, too, have hypothyroidism. SA related? Don't know. I'm on 25 mcg of Synthroid, but we're just in the beginning stages of getting my TSH levels down. However, I've never heard about Hashimoto's. Looks like I have some reading to do. Thanks!!

Re: Rested Gal Hits 10,000 Posts!

Laura, if the IRS would allow volunteered time as a charitable contribution, I'm sure your tax debt would be lessened by many thousands. Not that you do this FOR the return ... you so obviously don't ... that's part of your charm ... but it would happen nonetheless. Thank you so much for your involv...

Re: OT: Losing a Parent

Deep, heartfelt condolences, Kira. My dad died of Alzheimer's several years ago, and I completely identify with your "if I'd only known more" thoughts. Dad snored till the windows rattled, and I'm so sure -- now -- that he had SA, which helped deteriorate his health tremendously. Didn't know about S...

Re: Wulfman Hits 10,000 Posts!!!

I've been away from the forum for quite a while (dealing with some non-cpap-related things), and am SO glad I stopped in today. I would have been so disappointed to miss this chance to add my two cents. Den, the reason you're getting so many warm-hearted thoughts is that we all know you didn't make ...

Re: POLL: Apnea and Blood Pressure

I just made some comments about high BP and other causes in Johnny's "CPAP may not cure daytime sleepiness" thread. I do think that cpap therapy has helped my BP, but it wasn't until I did some other things that it came all the way down to "normal" levels.

Interesting poll. Thanks!!

Re: CPAP May Not Cure Daytime Sleepiness

If Obstructive Sleep Apnea is being VERIFYABLY and EFFECTIVELY treated, and one's AHI is 2 or less with low leaks, I'd imagine that any further tiredness would come from lack of hours or from something unrelated to OSA. I'm no scientist, but I completely agree with you, Johnny (and everyone else wh...

Re: Wondering how many use their ramp????

Same here. I tried it a few nights in the beginning, but I soon realized I did better without it. C-Flex, too. I don't use it either. My pressure's 12, and I have no problem with it at that level. There seems to be more "air pressure resistance" at first, but it seems to even out after a minute or l...

Jules, I loved the story about your cat! Me, too, Jules.... BOTH of them!! The good cat AND the bad one. That one had me rolling with hysterics. This is such a fascinating topic... I've loved everybody's stories. More, please!! Animals are so amazing. Sometime, I'll have to share the story about th...

Re: OT - starting radiology this week

Joanie and Jane, both of you will be in my prayers. I have two friends who've been through radiation treatment for breast cancer, and each of them told me it wasn't too bad, but it really sapped their energy. Please take extra good care of yourself during this time. And the one friend (who, by the w...

Re: Scared

Hi, drj130. Welcome to the forum!! I will also remember to ask for a data capable machine. Be very careful about this. There are machines with smart cards that only record the fact that you used the machine; they don't actually give the details we need to monitor our progress, such as how many apena...

Re: Do errors damage the credibility of the writer

Considering the fact that this forum (and the Internet) reaches around the world to many people whose primary language is NOT English, I think this hangup with "proper English" is or should be a non-issue. You're right, Den. It's just something that I enjoy talking about, and the nature of the beas...

Re: Do errors damage the credibility of the writer

Would any of the outed proof readers have a favorite english grammer text? The last one I had was "The Elements of Style" by William Strunk, Jr. cica 1918,ha ha! Another foundation book that comes up is "English Composition and Grammar : Complete Course" by John E. Warriner. All buried somewhere I ...
