Re: Oximeter: Cost vrs Benefit

I agree with Jim it's just a tool and doesnt do anything for your therapy. However for those of us who want to verify that our cpap is doing it's job it would be very handy. I am considering buying one but don't want to part with the money just yet. I read a lot on this board about people doubting t...

Re: RERAs and sleep fragmentation as a major issue

FWIW I had 2 sleep studies done. One was without any titration at all. At the first I had 49 RERA's with an index of 13.9 arousals/hour and 87 spontaneous arousals with an index of 24.7 arousals/hour. They noted these by saying "the etiology of some of (spontaneous) these is unclear". At the second ...

Re: RERAs and sleep fragmentation as a major issue

I want to ask the obvious here and that would be is there any agreement on how this is treated? I read a 9 page thread started by a doctor that was very informative. It was started a year ago. That doctor favored a bi-level for this but If one uses just straight cpap (I dont have a bi-level) would t...

Re: My dad had his titration--? about low AHI and bad O2 levels

Interesting.....I was titrated at 7. They called this the "Effective Pressure". I am only guessing here since I did not talk to the sleep doc at all about the study but I suspect that this "Efective Pressure" is the minimum pressure required to keep 02 sat above 90 for the whole night which it did a...

Re: No EPR for me. thanks...

This post is valuable info for me because I wondered why I did better on straight cpap as opposed to Apap. I have a Respironics machine but I think the principle may still apply on what dsm said. I did my best at 10 on straight cpap w/ or w/out cflex with ahi of under 1. On apap at a range of 9-12 I...

Re: New pattern of face sleeping

I woke up last night with my mask off and in the Falcon position (I had read that post)
I do'nt think I've slept that way for years....but who knows...I live alone
Must have been the power of suggestion !

Re: Leak line Concern

My leak average is not bad but the thing I'm concerned with is how mine spikes up and down. I think I move around a lot at night which pushes the mask around apparently. I live alone so nobody to ask ! Don't know how I'll do going forward....I'm still in the learning curve but have hit a brick wall ...

Cflex & Pressure

I know some on this board claim cflex is a comfort only feature but some have implied that it changed their therapy. I've been on this cpap thing 5 weeks now and the whole time it was using cflex at 3. If I switch it off will it have any affect on the pressure ? If anything I think it could mean I c...

Ideal height of F&P HC150 ?

I am in the process of building a custom end table for my M Series unit and my HC 150 HH. The M series blower is at bed level but I am unsure of how high to mount my separate HH. I know it should be lower but what is the ideal height of it if I could make it anything other than being directly on the...

Re: I hate you people....

The only thing I can add to this is that I have only been doing this cpap thing for a month but started from day one with taping with the 2 inch 3m micropore tape from walgreens. No problems with doing it except my lips are getting a bit sensitive now. Nice low leaks and all....I thought I was gonna...

Re: Insomnia drug helps jet-lag, shift-work troubles

Interesting stuff.....my question is:
What is a normal dose of OTC Melatonin and how much can be tolerated ?
I take 2 of the little pills..I think they're 3 each.
Can't say they help me fall or stay asleep though.

Don't want to overdo it.

Re: 2 months cpap, 3 data apap - data

I am still a 3 week newbie at this but I think I have found that I do better at 10 straight cpap versus setting the APAP at 10-13. The numbers bear witness to this IF the data I am getting is reliable. I DO have the software and reader. I dont know if these APAP machines are all they're cracked up t...

Re: Newbie Question RE: Leak Rate

FWIW I did the boil and fit thing last night with the Comfort-Gel mask and it only lowered the leak 1or 2 pts at the most.

My leak rate was 37.....that seems to be the best I can do.
