I think there's a lot to what Jeff said about us adapting to our machines.....however I 've also noticed the trend over the last few weeks or so
for some unknown reason my ahi has gone down.
Could it have anything to do with the onset of Spring ?

Re: OT: Ins. co. denies payment for son's bill for chest pain
Deb I worked with a guy who had worked for a medical insurance company at one time and he said they would try every trick in the book to deny claims including claiming they never received any billing and silly games like that. It was just an attempt to save money. Hold their feet to the fire. Bill

Re: APAP malfunctions when I move from Los Angeles to Denver
This thread is what concerned me about traveling with my M series machine (by air anyway). It was mentioned in the original post that the machine was packed in the luggage rather than carry-on. If this is so and it was air travel that would mean that the unit was subject to possibly 30000 feet of al...

Re: Scuba Divers and OSA
As an open water certified diver (but havent dove for about 5 years) I had no problem at all getting used to the mask and the breathing sounds, and like you I find the gentle rush of air pretty much puts me to sleep. I dont ramp my pressure either...it's straight to 9 just like yours. However when I...

Re: How do you choose apap, vpap, bipap, etc.
This thread makes for some good reading and at the risk of going a little off topic from what Sue asked in the beginning: I was curious about this c-flex topic as there seems to be a little disagreement on this. I was wondering what value in cmH2o that c-flex has for each of its levels (123). If the...

Re: What wakes us ?
This has actually been said in an earlier reply but I'll phrase it differently here. Waking up can be simply a defensive reaction against sleep apnea. If I'm awake I wont have an apnea event. Cpap though trains the body and mind to stay asleep ...no defense required...but it takes a period of time. ...

Re: Ultra Mirage vs Quattro - one night's observation
That CO2 build-up you mentioned makes me want to undo my teflon fix for the elbow joint and just let it leak more.
Or: just apply ONE layer of the teflon tape to eliminate squeaking (if indeed it does squeak).

Re: itch
I've dealt with this by turning up the humidity. Even so it was about 5 days before the itching went away. I also put on a little bit of Noxema skin cream on my nose before putting on the mask. I noticed that after a couple hours of sleeping with the Noxema on that the cpap air would turn the Noxema...

Re: Need leak rates for Mirage Quattro FF mask
Leak rate is the intended "designed" leak for the mask at a certain pressure to assure no breathing in co2. I think vent flow rate is just different terminology for the same thing. Actually, I spend 66 % of the night at 9 the other 34 % at 10 and if I get anything under let's say 39 for leak its goo...

Re: Need leak rates for Mirage Quattro FF mask
You can download the Quattro's user's guide from the Resmed site but here they are: At pressure of 4 its 22 LPM at 8 its 32 at 12 its 41 at 16 its 48 at 20 its 54 You can interpolate for in between pressures and also they say the tolerance on those values is +/- 6 LPM due to manufacturing variations...

Re: whats going on..
It took me a good month to learn how to wear my Quattro. I went through a period of a couple weeks of frustration with leaks everywhere especially near the eyes. Sometime I'm going to modify this mask when I have time to make it able to sit in a "more upright position" to totally eliminate eye leaks...

Re: My Theory based on Respronics Response
but why would leaks automatically cause a loss of sensitivity? I think you would have to get into the design of the flow sensor and pressure sensor inside the unit to figure that out. If I had to guess it would be because the sensor's themselves are most accurate around a nominal pressure or a nomin...

Someone videotaped their pressure for a length of time to check what you are asking.
