Sense Check - What AHI is bad?

Just left a Doctor who I think is an idiot. I Understand data is far more involved than this. But just reading the AHI number off the machine in the morning, above what number would you feel is a Red Flag that your treatment may not be working? Long story short, I started seeing a doctor about my ap...

Re: Getting a CPAP for the first time

I just got this machine yesterday. It has the 'flex' setting that can only changed in strength. I hate the 'flex' thing because the noise from the machine becomes cyclical with my breath and its distracting. I can also feel the resistance drop which is also distracting. My ability to fall asleep whe...

Re: Flying Abroad - 18 hr trip

Thanks for the reply. Just to note, all my research points to S. Korea being 220V and 110V in a few places as it becomes obsolete.

And unfortunately sleeping sitting up has never really helped me much. Maybe its because my head is either facing forward to tilted down and/or to the side.

Flying Abroad - 18 hr trip

Company may be sending me out tomorrow to South Korea. I don't have a travel CPAP and only have a Resmed S9 Autoset. A quick check of their website I think I can use the power supply if I find an adapter Any suggestions for the plane trip? My option is to stay awake the whole trip which may be doabl...

Re: Lots of charlie horses in early am hours

My 2 cents. I use to get them every so often. Since being on CPAP that stopped.

Re: Backpack for CPAP Plane Carry On?

Doesn't your machine come with a carry bag? It is already designed to carry your machine safely, and will make it easy for security to look at it. The carry strap would allow it to hang on the back of the bathroom door. It will barely fit the main unit, hose and power supply. No room for a mask unl...

Backpack for CPAP Plane Carry On?

Anyone use a backpack as their CPAP carry on? A few years ago I took a flight with a nice tough carry on for my CPAP. It had wheels and extendable handle. It was fine, except when I went to go to the bathroom. I was alone so I had to take it with me. I ended up having to choose between leaving it ou...

Re: Internet bought machine, how to get checked?

Please ge tthe clinical manual from a member here on the site. I also have an S9 autoset and I run it in straight CPAP mode. Sounds like the ramp is set for a long period of time. You can turn the ramp off. Again the clinical manual has all the information that you need. As far as setting the press...

Internet bought machine, how to get checked?

I bought a S9 Autoset from CPAP.com. I'm getting instaneously flow traces that I swear look like I'm having events. Basically it goes really low, followed by really large breathing which I call 'make up' breathing or gasping. Sometimes only about 1/3 of these events are flagged as anything. I would ...

Re: Thought this was English forum.

I went to a University that was quite mixed on the teaching staff and fellow students. And although what they spoke in class was supposedly English, it would have helped if they actually used the language outside class to help their fluency. Accommodating one or two people in a group not well versed...

Re: NOISY Liberty mask! Any tips??

I found its the venting holes on the mask itself that cause a lot of the noise. You should be able to cover them for a moment and if the noise goes away, that's it. I found the exit hole edges are too sharp or have burrs. When I get a new mask and its noisey, in a pinch I just scratch the vent hole...

Re: Sleeping pills while starting out CPAP

Two things 1) Google Ambien and Central Sleep apnea and discuss whether that applies to you with your doctor. 2) If you're just starting, I would take advantage of your current sleep debt to help you get use to sleeping with your CPAP. If you get rid of the sleep debt and go off the sleeping pills i...

Re: Can I vent?

About the mask leak, masks do change some with use permanently, but some of the change is from exposure to your face oils. I would clean your mask and I would wash your face where it contacts the mask or swab it with a cleanser that has very little residue (if you can find one) before putting on you...

Re: What do I need for trip to Europe?

Randy..... I respectfully disagree with your position on "distilled water". At home, I do use distilled water....but on a trip I don't want the hassle of trying to find some while I'm on the move. I realize that the manufacturers suggest the use of distilled water....but they don't give a reason "w...
