Re: Will I Ever?
I wake up to turn over once every night. It used to be more often and I went to the bathroom, too. Now it is usually just the one time. Sometimes I don't quite remember doing it (but I know I did because I am on my other side). Those are the good nights. It does get better.

Re: I'm so confused and I can't find my socks
Your leaks could be high. That machine doesn't exclude the vent rate. I don't have that mask but a Google search of this forum says the vent rate is: At pressure of 4 its 22 LPM at 8 its 32 at 12 its 41 at 16 its 48 at 20 its 54 Your average is 45 but I don't know what your pressure is. If you press...

Re: I can't fight this feeling anymore
As said, turn on the EPR and give it time. When I started, I had an APAP set to 5. That was too low and I felt like I was suffocating. I turned it to 6 (titrated pressure 7) and it felt like a gail. So 5.5 was just right. Months later, it feels like nothing and I have it set to 7. It still feels lik...

Re: Distilled water or not?
When I was in Thailand for 2 weeks, I used bottled water. There was a mineral deposit left on the bottom of the tank. I cleaned it when I got home and started using the distilled again. I would use distilled when you can and bottled water when you can't.

Re: I need help!
I'm rather sure the 4/5 is the humidity on your humidfier and has nothing to do with your pressure. You would probably either need to get a copy of your sleep study or get into the clinical menu of your machine to find out what your pressure is. It has been so long you either need to get an APAP mac...

Re: unsuccessful sleep studies
If you doctor is that convinced you have apnea, have him/her write you a prescription for a machine and order it. There are others here who have done it. I would get an APAP so you can self titrate but it can be done.

Re: For Ladies Only!!!
My mother died of breast cancer 6 years ago. She didn't have regular breast cancer. She had Inflammatory Breast Cancer. Worst kind you can get. No cancer runs in her family. The only high risk thing she had was HRT. There is nothing on God's green earth that would get me to take it.

Re: Encore Viewer charts: what should these tell me?
You can change your pressure on ANY machine. Doesn't need to be an APAP. You just need to know how.

Re: How many have had surgey and are still on cpap?
I don't think a UPPP is the answer. From what I have read, the surgery pain is horrendous and it doesn't always work. And for those for whom it doesn't work, trying to then use the CPAP is MUCH worse because the natural structures in the throat are gone. If I was going to do surgery, I want somethin...

Re: Numbers changed from original study
The titration is not "based" on the original study. The original study just said whether you had OSA or not. That doesn't impact the titration which is to determine how much pressure is needed to stop your apneas. The pressure needed has nothing to do with the number of apneas.

Re: still newbie--reading & setting your own pressure?
Your machine is data capable so it records a bunch of information every night that you use it. Using that, you can discover if your AHI is good and if your leak rate is bad. Either can impact how you feel. When using an APAP, your low number needs to be fairly close to your titrated pressure. What w...

Re: CPAP improved my cholesterol levels?
I don't know that CPAP changed mine. I am on a statin and the numbers were still high 4 months ago. I started taking a supplement called Greens to Go on the advice of a colleague whose cholestrol dropped 60 points and my cholesterol dropped like a stone. The only thing different was the supplement. ...

You can make your own heated hose using a 15w Retile Cable Cord. They cost around $20. Just put it underneath the hose huggie. Below is the cable I got. You would have to check on it plus the shipping costs to find the cheapest deal. http://farm-and-pet.hardwarestore.com/109-605-reptile-supplies/rep...

Re: Insurance Issue: Owning the APAP
The ONLY reason I didn't buy it outright is because my insurance company had a $750 deductible with 100% coverage after that and if I met the deductible after Oct 1st it would count for the entire next year. Then my company changed insurance companies... THEN I had called my insurance company and as...
