Wow! With all those side-effects, how can one possibly make any reasonable judgement about appropriate use? How did it ever got to be available over-the-counter?

... Patent protection ran out. It's also worth mentioning that a number of foods will also cause those same side-effects.

I'll throw in a shameless plug for the little Puritan-Bennett machines. Puritan-Bennett machines offer the best value along with the highest performance. Additionally, Puritan-Bennett has not raised their prices to the ridiculous levels which Respironics, ResMed and F&P have. The PB 420E APAP provid...

I do believe I have mine set to run wide open, like from 4-20. I think my original prescription was for 14. Maybe I'll try setting the machine to max out just over that, like 16? Oh, boy! No wonder you're complaining about the blow. You might even want to try the titration pressure of 14 as the max...

The thing is, as I sleep and the air flow increases through the night, I start getting a lot of air leakage. Sometimes at first it's just a little air leaking into my eyes around the top of my nose. Often to the point that it wakes me up. But by the middle of the night it's whistling and making all...

Think mind-set, Tony. It wasn't very long ago that you had no legal right to any of your medical records. That mind-set still pervades the medical community. Some of the details which directly address your question are as follows: 1) The FDA does not require a prescription for any xPAP device (or, f...

How true, not mysterious at all ... just dangerous, if like me, you don't know what you are doing. LOL. When one uses sudo, then one can be just as dangerous on a Linux machine as one ordinarily is on a Windows machine. . Of course, even with sudo your Linux machine is still not being subjected to ...

I've seen one resmed that does. Correct. As I mentioned, the newest ResMed APAP offers exhalation relief in APAP mode. Make sure of the model if that's the machine you choose. DME's are reported constantly here for pulling switcheroos. If you order online, then just make sure you order the correct ...

Small update ...

The mask chiding I got yesterday prompted me to consider another mask. Based on not just Cathy's recommendation, but the fact that I've read many excellent reports from experienced CPAP'ers extolling the virtues of the Headrest, I went ahead and ordered one yesterday. The only real complaint folks s...

Re: Machines

Welcome SingleMom, So I'm considering just buying everything. Excellent plan. That's what I did. It can save a lot of grief. I was looking at some of the ResMed's auto machines. What's everyone's opinions? 1) ResMed makes the most expensive and least capable auto-PAP machine currently manufactured. ...

Re: SOFTWARE

Will having software be like having a second job? I don't want a second job. Thanks Don Don, In addition to what the others have said, should you decide to get a new Puritan-Bennett machine with data capability, such as the 420S or 420E, the corresponding SilverLining 3 software takes mere minutes ...

Re: Sensory Input

Bill, I find the physical activity aspect interesting. We can further explore that correlation if you become convinced the correlation is both real and sustained. I have some similar anecdotes and speculative thoughts regarding pathophysiology to eventually share. Yeah, I'm convinced the correlatio...

I believe the Linux Kernel is corrupt in Ubuntu, because every time I try to load normally or safe startup or re-install it crashes at the kernel and the pc states that it had to shut down due to a thermal event ... Do you suffer from SAADD*? Cathy, I actually suffer from SAIDD (Sleep Apnea Input Device Discomfort). It's been a while since I used nasal pillows and my schnozz wanted a day to recover. . My first intention was just to stop in this thread for friendly support, Bill. But, yeah, I'll admit the technical discussion got way too compelling to simply leave. This discussion's like Hotel California: You can check in but you can never leave.. . How apropos! On a dark desert highway, cool win...
