18 months on the hose

Hi All, I don't post often but when I was first diagnosed and starting treatment I was a regular. Some of you might remember me. Anyway, a friend of mine just had a sleep study and I was looking through my old posts for some information for him and realized that I posted almost exactly a year ago ab...

Re: February 27, 2009: Implantable Device Replaces CPAP

there will be side effects to this too rooster. It might be better in the end or it might be better for some than others. But no treatment will go without other effects. For one, this will need to be surgically implanted. Implants can cause reactions in some people. So can surgery, even minor surger...

Re: Implantable Device Cures Obstructive Sleep Apnea

Something is going wrong when we fall asleep and I don't think it is muscle strength. It is something in the signalling process. The signal for the airway muscles to flex is not strong enough when we fall asleep. Exercising the muscle might strengthen the muscle, but it won't strengthen the signal....

Re: How does auto CPAP work

The machine will kick it up incrementally until your apneas lessen. However, if you have a lot of time without apneas, it will also lower the pressure incrementally. My machine goes both up and down nightly in response to my apneas and hypopneas.

Re: Switched from CPAP to Auto CPAP - question

Basically, you need to stop doing whatever erased your card. Thats the only issue here. She needs the data to prove compliance with medical. Without data, no printout. So that should be easy now with the M series auto. Its the same machine I have. YOu get a copy of the software and adjust your setti...

Re: Does Memory Come Back?

Well, a single person's experience isn't scientific but I definately am getting my memory back. I have much fewer moments where I can't remember things. On the other hand, I am the wife and from what I am hearing, maybe its expected of me to remember more??? lol

he has three, not including the acoustic. And I won't buy him a bass. Too risky to get the wrong one. He has to do that himself.

Re: Attn Newbies: your brain may be fried.....

Hah. I just sent this thread to my husband. No, I am not trying to give him the message he should go in for a sleep study. He sleeps just fine. However, he plays Bass. He just got home last night from spending the day with 50 other bassists in SF Bay Area comparing gear and hanging out (all friends ...

Re: If you were me, would you get card reader+software?

I definately think you should get the software. I find that things change somewhat regularly and by using the software, I can find out what is going on. By using the software, I have found out what foods, drinks, behaviours, etc, trigger a bad night and what things make my OSA better. This has led t...

Re: Thought you could help..i'm new

If you can share some of that report with us, we probably can help you to understand it. The abbreviations and things aren't too hard to figure out once you have had some help from others. Also, how much are you paying monthly for this current machine? My guess is that you could pay a lot less to bu...

Re: Sleep position causing joint pain

I have a temperpedic mattress and it is awesome. However, what has really made the difference is exercise. I do a decent workout (about 30 minutes of walking) during the day and another ten minutes or so an hour before bed. That before bedtime workout is what really helps my sleep. I know if I don't...

Re: anyone using devilbiss smartlink software?

Well, I have assigned the serial number and the study was not yet over (it was day 3 of a 14 day study). I had already uploaded two days worth of data successfully. At this point, it doesn't give me an option to upload anymore information no matter what. The documentation, and your experience, is th...

Hopefully you will sleep well.

Be patient. We know how hard it is. We have all been there. It was just 7 months ago for me and I finally am feeling great again.

Talk to you tomorrow. Of course you belong here.
