nose and allergy treatments
Hello, all you new cpaptalkers. I'm an old cpaptalker, successfully and happily on apap for 3 1/2 years now. I couldn't have adapted without the great information and support from people on cpaptalk.com. But I still didn't Get My Life Back, not because of sleep apnea, but because of so many food sen...

Dr. Krakow's nocturia link
From the light bulb article above on Specific Conditions and OSA: Urination, nighttime (nocturia)and OSA. If you have untreated sleep apnea, the body may secrete a hormone (atrial natriuretic factor) that increases your urine output during sleep. When sleep apnea is treated, nighttime urine output i...

getting Home from New Users Guide
Site looks good.
When I was in the New User's Guide, it took some time to get to the cpaptalk.com home page or forum page. I finally figured out that clicking on Read took me there.
How about labeling it Read/Home ?

more sleep tech help
Welcome, Southern Girl. My sleep tech was excellent, very professional, went out of his way to help the next morning, and told me about cpaptalk.com. I hope your fellow sleep techs also tell patients about this forum. Sleep Dr. Barry Krakow (who has posted to this forum) suggests in his book that sl...

weight loss
Like you, I was looking for an easy out, weight loss and/or a dental appliance, to avoid xPAP. It didn't work. With severe OSA, I needed APAP. You have severe OSA. You might consider going on the hose WHILE you lose weight, and then see if you still need xPAP. Sleep apnea messes with the weight/eati...

global warming priorities
I work with a group of scientists who study climate change, a very skeptical bunch who rely on hard data and who don't make a statement lightly unless there is hard evidence to back it up. Nine years ago, they were saying the kind of things DreamStalker said in this post. For several years now, they...

taking SA seriously
Good for you, for taking care of yourself. Let those close to you know that you want to be around them in good health and vitality, not as a stroke or heart attack victim they need to care for, a tired grouch, or someone who has lost memory and capacity to work. Most people downplay sleep apnea beca...

checking your pressure
Most DMEs will check your pressure with a manometer for free. It's absurd that your DME wants to charge $100. Call local hospital sleep labs and/or other DMEs in your area to see if they will check the pressure if you bring in your machine. It takes only seconds. While you're at it, read the article...

classic tank problem
I have a Respironics REMStar auto CPAP w/ CFlex, the "classic tank" model, 2 1/2 years old, a great machine. I love it. For the first time ever, I set it in auto PAP WITHOUT CFlex, using the smart card to change the setting. The machine turns itself off automatically whenever I move the hose, like w...
