Re: Central Apnea Issues - Who knows about central?
Well in Jan of 07 I was diagnosed with SA and after another sleep study I was started off on CPAP, it didn't help so later on I had an at home 24 O2 sat study done, and supplemental O2 at 2 lpm was added, it didn't help much either, another sleep study and was put on BiPAP and then several more slee...

.......that chin piece just doesn't work very well with that type of beard! ......... Oops, I forgot about that chin piece. I did not like it and cut it off right away. Have been using it that way for 27 months. Here's some tips: http://www.cpaptalk.com/viewtopic.php?t=14422&highlight= rooster I wi...

Re: Do nasal pillows enlarge or permanently affect nares/nostril
I think you've had anatomy physiology maybe you would know that it is really not possible given the amount of pressure and the material and the length of time involved. If it did enlarge your nostrils then why wouldn't using CPAP over a certain time period enlarge your throat? Now if you stretched o...

Re: There went the 'stache!
rooster I think the Hybrid works great with a closely trimmed beard, I personally think it is one of the most comfortable and well designed mask around, and it works really well too! I switched over to the Liberty because I just couldn't get as good of numbers (AHI) with the Hybrid on my machine as ...

Re: There went the 'stache!
nope carbonman can't do it! I've tried just about every full face there is, get too many leaks at the bridge of my nose, and I just can't stand the pressure they on the bridge. I'll just keep on with the Liberty until something really new comes out that is designed just for us bearded folk.

Re: There went the 'stache!
I went that route with shaving when I was on BiPAP set at 20/16 and I still couldn't stop the leaks, although I must admit I never did shave off the 'stache'! I've had it since 1970 and just can't get myself to take a razor to it! Anyway I grew the beard all back, thought if I was going to have leak...

Songbird I don't post here often and only come to this forum just once in awhile, ( I tend to post and hang around more at the other two sleep forums) but after reading thru this thread, several times, I do applaud you for your post here, it looks like you really put allot of thought and effort in d...

Re: Resmed Liberty difference b/w S and L mask?
jules I will be looking forward to your post on the headgear . It sounds like you are further out in the "sticks" than I am, it is 7 miles to the True Value Hardware and close to 40 to the Target and not quite 25miles to Wal-Mart. It isn't bad except when in the winter when the roads are covered wit...

Re: Resmed Liberty difference b/w S and L mask?
jules you know I use my mask every night with this mod, have been, for over a year now including the time with the Hybrid. Anyway It works for me and as bad and uncomfortable as it might look, it really isn't at all. Anyway I also should mention that Target has the clips for this mod in stock now, t...

Re: Resmed Liberty difference b/w S and L mask?
I am a big fan of the Liberty mask and the Hybrid, I was using the Hybrid for a long time and I think it is the most comfortable of the two. But with that said when I was switched over to the ResMed VPAP ASV machine I got much better data with using the Liberty mask. My pressures are rather high wit...

Re: Sleep Studies - how often?
Sounds like you are way over due for a sleep study anyway! I have talked with some people that have Sleep Apnea and work at sleep centers and they get a sleep study done yearly, my doctor recommends a yearly sleep study, I guess it all depends on the individual and if they know how they are doing. I...

Re: More confused than ever-tried 10 and NO apneas. Go to PSG???
2girlsmom If your not sleeping good and your having problems with your PAP, since your already scheduled for the sleep study, you might as well get it done, maybe they missed something? Did you ever have any Centrals? If so maybe they are causing you problems. Hopefully this time they will get your ...

Re: Anyone use the Liberty mask??
grumpygirl I use the Liberty mask I think it's great! The nasal pillows can be a problem with higher pressures, but there is allot of fixes for that, look for the liberty Mask in the Lab Rat Trophy Awards. I must admit I like the Hybrid mask even better than the Liberty. I think it is much more comf...

Re: Mask Wipes?
I also use them on my mask but I use them them at night shortly before going to bed. I have never thought about using any thing else, I don't know if the other type of wipes would hurt or damage the seal material of the mask. Good question as the Citrus II wipes are rather expensive!

Re: Does Anyone Else Here Have Central Sleep Apnea? (CSA)
Regina although Central Apneas are not as common as Obstructive Apneas, there are allot of us out here that have them, and more than likely have both types of Apneas and this is called Complex Sleep Apnea which is what I have. I was started off on CPAP then went on BiPAP, and then finally on VPAP AS...
