I was browsing CNET headlines today (yes, I'm a tech geek, it's my job), and I found this: USA Today technology columnist Kevin Maney predicts that sometime in 2006, "Steve Jobs will probably get hosed." ____________________ Now, of course Mr. Maney is referring to the likelihood that Mr. Jobs will ...

Good for you, WilsonVilleUSA! The numbers from your initial sleep study are pretty conclusive, and I'm so glad that the treatment is working quickly for you. My initial study was not too dissimilar from yours, and in fact I managed to scare the sleep tech a whole bunch of times overnight. He wasn't ...

Snow out!!! That had to be uncomfortable.
I'm happy to know that the Big Guy is doing better, Mike.
Thanks for the update. What's his pressure, by the way?

Re: Heart Rate

The reason they are that high during running is because of metabolic demands. And you'd have to be running dang hard to get up to 120. That arguement also assumes you are in REM, an assumption you can't make. Dear StillAnotherGuest- There's no other way to say this but, well, no, you're incorrect. ...

Re: UPDATE on Overnight pulse ox...

my heart rate was a diff story, it fluctuated wildly for about the first hr then leveled out as I got into a good sleep but I noticed throught the night every hr or so sometimes more often my heart rate would shoot up to like 110-120. Is this normal? Does like when you go into REM sleep and dream w...

dnelms, very recently I asked my DME rep essentially the same question you've posed. She said their experience is that the usual lifespan of the machine's optimal effectiveness is between 5-10 years. Her words to me were that it will likely fail all at once and you'll know it (how? Will it just not ...

I've had mixed success preaching the "Get Yourself Checked Out for OSA, Verily Forsooth!" gospel. I have had a number of friends tell me that they or their spouses have gotten looked at and in some cases treated, but my stubborn brother-in-law categorically refuses to see anyone about his OSA. This ...

Blogging about sleep apnea

I have a blog that's a couple months old. I've been sending updates to friends and family from time to time. Recently I finished a 3 part series of posts on sleep apna that more or less coincided with my joining this happy Hosehead board. I don't know how much education the learned gang here will fi...
