Re: Oxygen concentrators - some questions
Some masks have O2 ports built in. Check with your doctor of the possibility of your going on O2 during the day. If the answer is yes, then renting is the way to go. They will provide all supplies and supplemental O2. The supplemental O2 can be helpful during a power outage. You can use battery powe...

Re: Not allow to leave liquid oxygen reservoir outside?
The advantage of liquid oxygen is the size. Eight hours of liquid oxygen is much lighter and smaller than eight hours of compressed oxygen or a portable concentrator. Also if one is on high flow rate, concentrators may not work where liquid oxygen will.

Re: OT -- Coffee: it is an awesome thing
Texas Coffee 1. Bring a pot of water to a boil. 2. Add one pound of coffee. 3. Boil for five minutes. 4. Drop in a horse shoe, if it sinks, add another pound of coffee and boil another five minutes. P.S. Used to work nights, drank pots of coffee, went home and straight to bed. No problems sleeping. ...

Re: transport-sleep-apnea-scam
In defense of the OP, the test he described sounded like a test pitched to me at a trucking convention. This test should be used as a screening tool for all drivers to decide who should go through a full blown sleep study. I also fault the trucking company for not having a good followup program to h...

Re: On the road, need some help
I am a former truck driver and used an APAP with an AC humidifier with a 200 watt inverter, this was the max Schneider allowed. The newer machines use a separate switching power supply that does not care about the quality of the incoming AC power. They will work fine on any inverter as long as they ...

Re: Competitive Bidding & High-end CPAP Products
My excellent DME just sold out to another DME because of all of the changes. Not only did they cut CPAP charges but oxygen also. I suspect they cut everything. Fortunately for me, I am still dealing with some of the same people. The competitive bidding is running small DME's out of business. Sleep w...

Re: OT: Teachers allowed concealed weapon at school
One school district in the Dallas-Fort Worth area did a study of the time it takes to get Law enforcement to respond to an event. The result was from the time the suspect set foot on the property, was identified, 911 called, to police arrival was Five and a half minutes. This was a best case study. ...

One of the reasons for the outragous billing is Medicare. Whatever a provider bills Medicare, they have to bill private (cash) pay patients. That way they hope to recope some of their loses?

Re: How do you fight unfair hospital bills in the US?
Somewhere in the common area of the hospital, there is a notice of accreditation. Check when it is due for recertification ( normally a two year certificate ) and who the agency is along with where to file complaints. Problems like this can cause them to lose accreditation or at least delay it. It m...

Re: Difference in Data between Sleepy Head and Encore Basic-
I just got the PRS1 60 Series Auto ( NOT the BiPap) and the MAX difference in AHI is 0.04 between EB and SH. The only problem I have seen (6 days) is that one day the pressure graph had no scale and was inverted. Maybe the OP got a bad download of the patch.

Re: Need help with ordering a machine
I know this post is old, but there was a question of added features the 60 Series has over the 50 Series. From reading other posts, it does not appear that the 50 has a mask fit feature. If enabled (default?0) Just press the Ramp button for 5 seconds and you are in mask fit. Also the Auto with A Fle...

Re: Using Medicare to Replace a Defective CPAP
I am going through this at this time. Medicare will replace a defective machine, broken switch works. You need a copy of your sleep study, mine is five years old but is OK. Next, see your DR and make certain that it is documented, have him write the script (keep a copy). After you get your machine, ...

Re: Trucking company Celadon admits S.A. caused death
As a retired truck driver, I can tell you that the trucking company and the Doctor that issued the Medical Certificate are both in the wrong. If a driver is diagnosed or even suspected of having OSA, they cannot drive until treated. Every year and upon demand, the driver must prove compliance. This ...
