Re: MedicAlert emblem will be a life saver.....

I have a MedicAlert bracelet for other reasons. Unless you specifically request a certain condition or information on the bracelet, MedicAlert personnel decide what should go on the bracelet. I have talked to their customer support about this and always tell them which condition/info I want on the b...

Re: Poll: What's Your Bedtime?

Before the summer of 2002, I went to bed at 10 - 10:30 PM, up around 6 AM. I had an unexplained circadian rhythm change in the summer of 2002, and I am lucky to get to bed by 1 AM with Xanax. The dogs are my alarm clock. This time of year, they're sleeping to 7:30 AM but in summer, they're up 6 - 6:...

Re: Ultra Mirage FF still leaks

Thanks for the suggestion on pillows. I think that is an issue on the large leaks since I sleep a lot on my sides. When I tried the ComfortGel FF mask, which is much deeper than the Ultra Mirage, I felt the mask move as soon as I turned on my side. But when one night everything is OK and the next ni...

Re: Ultra Mirage FF still leaks

What types of leak rates (numbers) are you talking about? Are your leak lines (VERY) erratic? Are the leaks waking you up? What position(s) do you sleep in? Den The leak rate on my Ultra Mirage FF mask at pressure of 15 should be 47. The leaks with the UMFF do not wake me unless it's right in my ey...

Re: Ultra Mirage FF still leaks

I started with the standard medium cushion in Aug. 2007. When I switched sleep doctors in 2008, the new one sent me to see the sleep lab supervisor in the lab he used to check my machine and mask. I had complained about the mask leaking to the point I couldn't sleep and this was at a pressure of 8. ...

A while back, I think I read about some yoga breathing techniques that are supposed to help also.

Re: Ultra Mirage FF still leaks

I believe you had sent me these steps before and I tried them. I can't stop the leak around the nose unless I put the forehead support in the lowest (bottom) position and tighten the top straps. I have no doubt that my straps on the bottom are tighter than they are supposed to be, but if I don't do ...

Ultra Mirage FF still leaks

I haven't been on in a while, but I have posted before about leaks with my Ultra Mirage FF with medium shallow cushion. I have tried many of the solutions recommended here (lanolin, extra panty hose strap, sleeping on cpap pillow and propped up a little, loosening straps, tightening straps, Macks, e...

Exercises to Improve Apnea?

John Hopkins sent me an "invitation" to subscribe to their health newsletter. If I subscribed, I could pick from a number of "white papers" written by their staff. One of these was on sleep, and the teaser was exercises that improve moderate sleep apnea. Does anyone know what they are taking about? ...

Re: Protection of Bridge of Nose - New Product

Maybe this is what my DME tech was talking about. She was trying to fit me with a Quattro (small and medium) two weeks ago and said there was something about the bridge of my nose that made it impossible to stop the leaks. I'm having this problem even with my UMFF. Anyway, she said they were waiting...

Re: Ultra Mirage FF Leaks Off the scale

FYI. I have the UMFF both in medium and small. The Liberty both in large and small. The Hybrid. FlexFit 431. I liked the Liberty until my pressure went up to 15. I have tried the Hybrid with the pantyhose trick, but I have to use the large and still find it rubs my chin. I can't take the nasal pillo...

Re: Size does matter.....

I have an UMFF on the way. Looking at the pics of the bridge area, I think this might actually work for me. MaskQuest 2009 must go on! mdintx, I'm always interested in reports from fellow UMFF users, my husband tried many before we found the best fit with the UM. Please update. DoriC What size UMFF...

Re: Ultra Mirage FF Leaks Off the scale

I try to stay on my side with pillows. I have tried the small UMFF but it hurt both my nose and around my lips. I'm wondering if you need a larger size. The bottom should come right into the cleft above your chin and if it's the right size and you have the forehead support and straps adjusted prope...

Re: Ultra Mirage FF Leaks Off the scale

I used the Respironics comfort gel nasal mask for 18 months and was satisfied with it. However, my leak rate looked like a train wreck. I am a mouth breather and taped my mouth. That helped. I purchased the UMFF for one purpose, when I have allergy problems or a cold, I can not breathe through my n...
