I travel with my PB 420E. It's a fantastic travel machine. If you have a big clunker, I'd suggest getting the 420G as an economical travel machine.

I travel internationally often, and even spent three weeks in Laos, Cambodia and Vietnam last year , and had no problems with my machine.

Do You Use 420E and Heated Hose?

Recently, I've been having a problem with my Puritan Bennett 420E abruptly shutting off, jolting me awake, leaving me gasping for air. When I would inhale deeply, it would trigger my 420E to shut down for the duration of a couple breaths. This was happening several times a night--and needless to say...

Rested Gal to the rescue! Indeed, it is a problem with the heated hose with the piggyback connector and the 420E. After reading Rested Gal's post, I did an experiment with my heated hose plugged in, and with the heated hose unplugged. With the hose plugged in, the machine would stop when I inhaled d...

I have tried virtually every mask on the market, and they all ended up on the floor sometime in the middle of the night. However, I've been using the SomnoPlus mask for nearly a year now and I love it. There's nothing radical about the design; but darn it, it works. It is the only mask I've found th...

420E Problem--Pressure Cuts Off

Recently, I have started having a problem with my 420E. From time to time, when I inhale deeply, the pressure just cuts off, it stops in its tracks, and then, of course, I am left gasping for air. After a couple gasps, the pressure starts up again and I can begin to breath normally. It seems to happ...

David, Every airline has a medical unit that approves the use of devices like CPAP on board an aircraft. Use of the machine inflight is at their discretion. You MUST get their approval well in advance of your trip. Some airlines will be more accommodating than others. I understand Quantas is CPAP fr...

For me, a side sleeper, it was a big 'ol waste of money. It leaked worse than any other mask I've tried. I was very disappointed.

Sleepless,

Thanks for the comment. Rest assured, when suggesting gulfpearl find a new husband, my tongue was implanted firmly in cheek.

However, it is true that my wife has made it clear that if I ever sleep next to her WITHOUT my CPAP, I'd better start looking for a new wife.

Your husband just plain 'ol does not understand addiction. He does not understand what the word means, what it implies, or how addictions manifests themselves. There is a good primer on addiction here: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Addiction If your husband even hints that you should not use your mac...

Wading,

I found something on the SomnoPlus that visually shows what i tried to explain about the quietness of it in my previous post:

Wading, With the SomnoPlus, air escapes through slots around the entire circumference of the hard plastic connecting piece. I think it's a combination of the shape of the exit holes and the fact that escaping air has more space to escape. (Dang, that was a bad explanation). You can see more about th...

Wading,

I've owned all but three of the masks listed on the graph and I can say with certainty that as the graph shows, my SomnoPlus is absolutely the quietest mask I have ever owned. It really is very very very quiet--almost silent.

Darn, I love that mask.

If I bothered to count all the masks piling up in my closet for the past three years, I'd put my self in a position where I'd have an answer this question when my wife asks.

Is it eight? Is it ten? Twelve?

Uhm, I dunno.
