Re: Trying to help a friend who needs CPAP

You are stuck with Encore (some version or other) with the SmartCard thing being used. I sent you a PM.... What versions of Encore have you tried? Thanks Pugsy! I've tried EP 2.2. I had 2.4 around here somewhere, but I can't find it. I also found the Respironics card-reader software that installed ...

Trying to help a friend who needs CPAP

Hello everybody. It's been a long time since I've posted. My CPAP therapy is going well, but I have a friend who has worse sleep apnea than myself and I'm trying to set him up with my old machine, a Remstar M-Series Pro CPAP. Unfortunately, it comes with the smart card, so I can't use sleepyhead and...

Re: emptying water on travel

My CPAP travel routine: If the cpap is in its travel bag, the water tank is empty. If the cpap is on a night-stand, and I'm staying several days, I leave my equipment on the stand, with the water in it during the day, just like at home. If I'm traveling by car, and there isn't a serviceable nightst...

Thanks. Better analogy.

Re: Another ResMed APAP brick just released

Been a while since I've posted. I just got an email about the Airstart APAP from cpap.com. I figured there had to be a catch. Brick machines should be discontinued. A machine without data takes power out of the hands of the user. You might as well give insulin shots to a diabetic, but tell them a nu...

Re: Windows 10 and SD Cards

This is not a problem with the SD card, nor is it a problem with the CPAP machine. If you're seeing this: https://farm2.staticflickr.com/1546/25640927105_2256d06b88_o_d.jpg it seems likely one of two things has happened with your card. You are probably using a 4, 8 or 16GB SD card. The S9 automatica...

Re: Need advice

Have you tried using pillows to fill the "hammocking" in your bed? You could try to make it level, sort of using some pillows like "bed spackle". Once they're reasonably arranged, cover them with a thick blanket and then a fitted sheet if possible. That might stabilize a flat enough surface to make ...

Re: Remstar Lite and accessories for sale-I'll make you a deal

"bwahahaha"????? I'm confused. The Remstar Lite is a fairly old machine. It's likely got lots of hours on it. Palerider may be implying that the machine may not be worth the cost of shipping, but it really depends on the financial circumstances of the prospective buyer. If the machine's run hours a...

Re: E0471 - are my eyes deceiving me? $$$

Starbucks burns the coffee. Dunkin Donuts, dude, all the way! +1 Starbucks = burned. Even their more "mellow" roasts are burnt. What a waste of taste. Give me Dunkin' Donuts over Starbucks any day. @Denise_in_MI Good luck getting a good price on your other addiction. I hope all goes well at the DME...

Re: nasal mask

gilmour, I agree with Julie - you may want to try a full face mask. I'm fond of resmed quattro fx , but the airfit 10 might work for you too. We're pretty gung-ho about taking control of our own therapy around here. If it seems like a lot of information is tossed at you all at once, no worries. We a...

Re: Husband needs help badly

I am still unable to update my profile, despite changing the things you all have suggested. I don't know what the hangup is. scarlett6 scarlett6, I might have missed it, but if nobody has suggested it, you might want to consider investing in an inexpensive oximeter. I understand you don't have a wi...

Re: insane amount of winter sneezing

What kind of heat does your house use? Radiator hot water. Same sneezing thing happened last winter when it was super cold in PA. I thought it was from the unusual cold plus the CPAP, but this time it started right up with normal November weather. I was running the room humidifier religiously becau...

Re: insane amount of winter sneezing

What kind of heat does your house use? 1. Without the heated hose, you'll only see the one setting for humidity. Since humidity is controlled by heating the water, that's what can sometimes cause rainout, especially when the room is enough colder than the hose. Wrap your hose in a towel or old socks...

Re: Can I purchase and adjust my own CPAP machine?

I think most states require you to get another sleep lab every so many years to make sure you still need CPAP in order for insurance to pay for the new device . If you are willing to pay for it yourself, you could probably get your general health care provider to write you a script. Cpaptalk is run ...
